Job Description

The Manufacturing Finance Controller demonstrates accountability for functional, business, and broad company financial objectives as they relate to manufacturing activity throughout the US operations. In this role, integrates and develops processes that meet business needs across the organization, manage complex issues within functional area of expertise, be involved in long-term planning, and contribute to the overall business strategy. Essential responsibilities are to provide technical direction to staff regarding functionality and administration of cost and interfacing systems.

Responsibilities: 

  • Provide internal managers and employees with an accurate, objective cost model of the organization and cost information that reflects the use of the organization’s resources.
  • Present decision-support information in a flexible manner that caters to the timeline for insights needed by internal decision makers.
  • Provide internal decision makers with insight into the marginal/incremental aspects of the alternatives they are considering.
  • Model quantitative cause-and-effect linkages between outputs and the inputs required to produce and deliver those outputs.
  • Accurately value the supply and consumption of resources to the operations and support processes of an organization in monetary terms.
  • Provide information that aids in both immediate and forward-looking internal decision making for optimization, growth, and attainment of enterprise strategic objectives.
  • Provide internal information to evaluate performance and learn from results.
  • Provide the basis and baseline factors for exploratory and predictive managerial activities.
  • Specific Deliverables:
    • Prepare annual operating budgets for production departments including expense plan, headcount plan, capital requirements and inventory.
    • Prepare annual cost roll of standard costs across all inventory classes.
    • Prepare direct and indirect rate calculations across the business.
    • Implement a robust expense control process to ensure spending is in line with the approved budget.
    • Analyze and evaluate inventory as reported in the balance sheet; including both composition (Raw, WIP, Finished Goods, In Transit) as well program / product line.
    • Calculate and report factory workforce efficiencies, utilization and productivity.
    • Analyze and report monthly purchase price variance. (amount and root cause)
    • Analyze and report monthly production variances. (amount and root cause)
    • Prepare weekly and monthly performance metrics.
    • Monitor inventory record accuracy through the established cycle count routine.
    • Monitor COPQ metrics including scrap, rework and quarantined inventory (MRB).
    • Monitor inbound logistics costs.
    • Monitor operations internal controls to safeguard company assets, ensure compliance with regulations.
    • Provide analysis and recommendations to help achieve operational and financial targets.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field, CPA, CMA or MBA desired.

Experience: Ten (10) or more years related experience in a manufacturing job cost environment.
 

Technical Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • ERP experience, SAP preferred
  • Advanced User of Excel and MS Office programs
  • Strong analytical skills, motivated, able to meet required deadlines, and detail-oriented
  • The ability to communicate across all levels of the organization
  • Ability to anticipate, identify, and resolve complex financial issues
  • Organized, polished financial professional confident in communicating orally and written through all levels of the organization.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Demonstrated team leadership ability
  • Ability and willingness to travel
  • Must be accustomed to meeting reporting deadlines.
  • DoD environment preferred but not required.

This position may require Sensitive Security Information (SSI) access and vetting via the TSA. If required, applicant must successfully pass a federal background investigation.

The compensation for this position ranges from $88,168.00-$132,252.00/yr and will vary depending on factors such as your location, skills, job-related knowledge, and experience. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus or commissions.
