Program Description

The position is based at a permanent supportive housing residence for formerly homeless adults, many of whom are living with mental health challenges and/or substance use histories. The program offers comprehensive on-site services including medication management, case management, medical and psychiatric care coordination, entitlement assistance, substance use counseling, money management support, 24/7 front desk coverage, and daily therapeutic and recreational group activities.

 

 

Title: Psychiatric Registered Nurse

Location: Manhattan NY

Compensation: $100,000- $110,000 + full benefits package

 

 

Key Responsibilities for Psychiatric Registered Nurse :

Provide hands-on nursing care, including administering medications, injections, and treatments as needed.

Oversee and manage residents’ medication regimens, ensuring accuracy and compliance with prescribed schedules.

Maintain up-to-date and accurate documentation in electronic health records, supporting data tracking and overall care planning.

Deliver basic wound care and assess healing progress.

Work closely with on-site medical and mental health professionals to ensure cohesive, person-centered care for all residents.

Help coordinate on-site health clinics and ensure resident participation, including follow-ups with medical and behavioral health providers.

Serve as a liaison between residents, pharmacies, and external healthcare providers to streamline care and improve health outcomes.

Educate tenants on managing chronic conditions and support preventive care practices through one-on-one and group engagement.

Evaluate tenants experiencing urgent medical issues and determine appropriate next steps, including referrals to emergency care when necessary.

Conduct occasional in-unit visits to support residents who are temporarily unable to attend on-site services.

Communicate key health updates and medication changes to case management and support staff.

Monitor inventory and ensure availability of essential medical supplies.

Lead wellness-focused group sessions twice per month.

Participate in team meetings, professional development, and case discussions to enhance service delivery.

Contribute to overall program operations by taking on additional responsibilities aligned with resident care and agency goals.

 

 

Requirements for Psychiatric Registered Nurse:

Associates Degree of Nursing (BSN Preferred)

BLS

Current NYS Registered Nurse License

Spanish speaking is a plus
