Job Description
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop custom automated assembly equipment, production machinery, and industrial automation systems using Creo Parametric.
- Create mechanical concepts, layouts, detailed assemblies, and component designs from initial requirements through final release.
- Utilize engineering principles and sound technical judgment to solve complex mechanical design challenges.
- Develop detailed manufacturing drawings, BOMs, specifications, and design documentation.
- Perform engineering calculations, tolerance analysis, component sizing, and mechanical evaluations to support design decisions.
- Support prototype development, equipment testing, validation, troubleshooting, and customer demonstrations.
- Participate in formal design reviews with Project Engineers and stakeholders, incorporating feedback and making necessary design improvements.
- Collaborate with manufacturing, controls engineering, systems integration, suppliers, and project teams to ensure successful project execution.
- Ensure designs meet requirements for functionality, safety, reliability, manufacturability, and cost-effectiveness.
- Maintain thorough documentation throughout the design lifecycle, including revisions and engineering change processes.
- Deliver high-quality designs while managing multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 3+ years of mechanical design experience within automated assembly systems, custom machinery, industrial automation, robotics, or special-purpose equipment.
- Proficiency in Creo (preferred). Proficiency in SWx will also be considered.
- Experience with Windchill PDM/PLM for design data management.
- Strong understanding of:
- Mechanical machine design
- Automated assembly equipment
- Pneumatic and mechanical systems
- Motion control components
- Design for Manufacturability (DFM)
- Component selection and system integration
- GD&T and engineering drawing standards
- Proven ability to independently execute complete machine designs with minimal supervision.
- Ability to effectively collaborate within a multidisciplinary engineering environment.
