We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Drupal Developer (freelancer remote) to lead the architecture, development, and maintenance of our enterprise-level web applications. In this role, you will be responsible for building robust custom modules, designing complex content structures, and integrating third-party services.

Development & Architecture

• Architect and develop complex, scalable Drupal solutions (Drupal 10/11) using PHP, MySQL, and Symfony components.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented custom modules and themes following Drupal coding standards.
• Design and implement RESTful APIs or GraphQL interfaces for decoupled (headless) applications or third-party integrations.
• Manage configuration management workflows (CMI) and complex data migrations.

Performance & Security

• Optimize application performance using caching strategies (Varnish, Redis/Memcached) and code profiling tools (Xdebug, Blackfire).
• Conduct security audits and apply patches to ensure compliance with industry security standards.
• Monitor application health and troubleshoot critical issues in production environments.

Leadership & Collaboration

• Lead code reviews and enforce version control best practices using Git.
• Collaborate with UX/UI designers, Project Managers, and Front-end Developers to deliver high-quality user experiences.
• Mentor junior and mid-level developers, providing technical guidance and constructive feedback.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies (Sprint Planning, Daily Stand-ups, Retrospectives).

Must-Haves

• 5+ years of backend web development experience, with at least 3+ years dedicated to Drupal 9/10/11.
• Deep understanding of the Drupal API, including the Form API, Entity API, Render API, and Plugin system.
• Proficiency in Object-Oriented PHP and the Symfony framework.
• Solid experience with Composer, Drush, and Git workflows.
• Proficiency in database management (MySQL/MariaDB) and query optimization.
• Experience with front-end technologies (HTML5, CSS3/SASS, JavaScript/ES6) and Twig templating.

Nice-to-Haves

• Acquia Certified Developer (Backend or Grand Master) certification.
• Experience with Decoupled (Headless) Drupal using React, Vue.js, or Next.js.
• Familiarity with DevOps practices: Docker (Lando/DDEV), Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience working with Acquia Cloud or Pantheon hosting environments.

Soft Skills

• Strong problem-solving skills and an analytical mindset.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to translate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
