Job Description
The Deputy Head of Training will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating all training activities within the organisation, ensuring the highest standards of training, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency. This role is deputising for the Head of Training, involving managing staff, supervising the training process, and ensuring that training programs meet both organisational and regulatory requirements. The Deputy Head of Training will also occasionally deliver training as an instructor or examiner, contribute to commercial bids, and assist with the management of safety and change processes.
- Oversee and coordinate deputies and postholders, ensuring efficient management, clear accountability, and operational excellence.
- Ensure training standards comply with regulatory requirements (e.g., UKCAA, EASA).
- Manage departmental goals, KPIs, and resource allocation, aligning them with strategic business objectives.
- Monitor and assist with instructor resourcing, recruitment and standardising.
- Represent the ATO at professional conferences and events.
- Attending Safety Review Boards.
- Promoting the company Safety Management System.
- Contribute to Management of Change process, leading when required.
- Conducting initial Risk Assessments & reviews.
- Assisting the Head of Training with developing and implementing polices.
Qualifications
- Hold or have held a UK CAA CPL(A)/IR or ATPL(A)
- Previous ATO, AOC or UK military management experience
- Right to live and work in the UK
- Ability to travel to USA
- Clean driving licence
- Extensive understanding of regulatory requirements applicable to pilot training and ATO management. Part-FCL, Part-ORA, Part-NCO
- Strong managerial skills
Highly desirable
- Current UK CAA and or EASA FI with Instrument, Multi Engine, CPL instructional privileges.
- Single pilot and / or multi pilot Examiner privileges
- Experience of multi pilot operations on CS-25 aircraft.
- Experience with a Part-ORA management system
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft 365 suite.
Additional Information
Salary £75,000 - £80,000 depending on experience.
Full Time - 40 hours, Monday - Friday.
