This new vacancy has been created following the recent announcement that UK-based Skyborne Aviation Group has acquired its first pilot training base in the United States in Vero Beach, Florida.

The Head of HR & Recruitment is responsible for employment policies and procedures, overseeing payroll and rewards and recognition programs as well as managing workplace safety initiatives. Along with administering employee-benefit programs, the Head of HR & Recruitment role involves finding, screening, recruiting new job applicants and developing training and development programs for all employees.

 

Job Description

The Head of HR & Recruitment will manage the Skyborne assessment and selection process end-to-end for all new trainees. The role will ensure consistency of selection standards and an uninterrupted flow of candidates according to Skyborne and partner airline requirements.
The Head of HR & Recruitment  will be required to meet budget plans and targets set by the business for candidate recruitment.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities:
I. Handling employment relations issues such as grievances and employee welfare.
II. Leading the recruitment process, including selection and interviewing of candidates.
III. Collaborating with other managers in the business, sometimes internationally, to ensure the smooth running of the company from a people perspective.
IV. Partnering with senior operational staff to establish and roll-out people-related strategy.
V. Overseeing staff attendance and absence monitoring.
VI. Providing detailed HR reports to senior management teams.
VII. Administration of employee-related paperwork, such as employment contracts, new starter packs, or formal notices of termination.
VIII. Leading new starter company inductions.
IX. Managing talent pools and succession plans to ensure the company can continue to operate in the future.
X. Overseeing training and development of employees.
XI. Administering financial elements such as payroll, compensation and benefits, and pension schemes.
XII. Handling highly confidential information in an honest and trustworthy way.
XIII. Be a single point of contact for all recruitment on a daily and weekly basis
XIV. Work with Marketing/Sales Manager and Directors on future number requirements
XV. Ensure a standard process is applied across all recruitment delivering a consistent quality candidate experience
XVI. Ensure Smart Recruiters is maintained and is current regarding all recruitment campaigns
XVII. Monitor candidate responses to attraction campaigns and take action to address numbers where necessary
XVIII. Screen candidate CV's and update Smart Recruiters system accordingly
XIX. Move candidates through the selection workflow, ensuring all candidates are communicated with at each stage

XX. Conduct assessment centres - deliver presentations, provide assessor support, coordinate other assessors as required and ensure candidates are treated fairly and with respect throughout the event
XXI. Carry out a wash-up at the end of each event and agree successful candidates with Assessors
XXII. Maintain up-to-date records for each event, and ensure appropriate communication is forwarded to each candidate
XXIII. Design and run skills training sessions for assessors
XXIV. Brief the assessment team and ensure they are kept up to date with any changes on the daily processes
XXV. Supervise third party supplier arrangements (external assessors), including directing their activity as required and ensuring high standards
XXVI. Involvement in special projects as required

Qualifications

Qualifications, Experience and Personal Qualities:

I. Proven working experience as HR Manager or other HR Executive
II. People oriented and results driven
III. Demonstrable experience with Human Resources metrics
IV. Knowledge of HR systems and databases
V. Ability to architect strategy along with leadership skills
VI. Excellent active listening, negotiation and presentation skills
VII. Competence to build and effectively manage interpersonal relationships at all levels of the company
VIII. In-depth knowledge of labor law and HR best practices
IX. Previous recruitment, selection and assessment experience
X. Client relationship management
XI. Previous candidate management experience
XII. Excellent administration coordination
XIII. Resilience and able to work under pressure
XIV. Ability to recognise and deal with challenges promptly and efficiently
XV. Attention to detail
