The Sr. MySQL Database Administrator will be responsible for all phases of database administration on all environments, with emphasis on performance troubleshooting, analytical problem solving and business customer support. The Sr. Database Administrator will ensure the operational delivery and the scalability of our systems. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Identify opportunities for improved performance in SQL operations and implementations.

Oversee the operations of the production and staging environments databases.

Design, implement, and monitor disaster recovery plans as it pertains to the production database environment.

Train and mentor junior personnel on best practices.

Additional responsibilities as assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/LICENSURE:

5+ years working as a MySQL DBA

2+ years’ experience with AWS, EC2, RDS

Possession of an undergraduate degree in computer information technology, computer engineering, or related degree strongly preferred.

Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a technical environment with familiarity in computer hardware/software, applications, software engineering and development.

Experience with data replication and synchronization with external systems.

Experience with design and implementation of back-up plans.

Experience with disaster recovery including planning and testing.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Installation and configuration of MySQL in a multi-master environment.

Demonstrated expertise with performance tuning; hardware and software.

Knowledge of forecasting and growth plans as it pertains to hardware.

Ability to create and implement sophisticated security models that meet business demands.

Demonstrated expertise with analysis and maintenance planning on production systems.

Knowledge of Amazon RDS is desired.
