Job Description

Skeleton Key is seeking a Boston area based engineer. Each of our rooms will have high tech integration, so s/he will be responsible for coordinating between the following third party vendors:

  1. Sensor developer (they have developed five types of Arduino sensors, including RFID and photoresistor, that will be embedded in the props)

Your role: Physically embed these sensors into the props. This will require drilling and wiring skills.

  1. Set fabricator (they produce our set pieces, generally made of foam and wood)

Your role: Communicate areas on the props/sets where you need to embed the sensors so that they can modify accordingly

  1. Sound Control System (they handle the script for all sound and light events)

The range of projects you’ll be working on will vary greatly, with some involving programming, and some being more DIY/prop making in nature. The range includes:

  • Arduino Treasure Box- http://www.instructables.com/id/Arduino-Knock-Knock-Treasure-Box/
  • Camel- Install an irrigation nozzle inside of a lifesized camel so that when the proximity sensor is activated, the camel will spit
  • Kaypro computer- Replace the screen and write script to accept text inputs and respond with a prescribed output

Qualifications

  • BA/BS (Class of 2017 welcome!)
  • Experience with hands-on mechanical projects and/or set fabrication
  • Expertise in Arduino and Raspberry Pi
  • Familiarity with programming languages
  • Proficiency in Google Docs & Sheets and/or Microsoft Word & Excel
  • Flexible, self-motivated, and proactive
