Job Description

With a majority of Skechers $8 Billion/year revenue coming from our wholesale customers and most of those customers using EDI, the systems, processes, and people supporting EDI are critical. The Director of EDI will play a crucial role in leading and optimizing EDI processes and systems within the organization. This hands-on, strategic position requires a seasoned professional with a strong background in managing EDI platforms, particularly with expertise in the OpenText EDI platform and using them as our VAN (Value Added Network). The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing and managing the relationship with OpenText, partnering with our custom ERP supply chain development team, and working closely with our Customer Service Managers in driving EDI initiatives.

As we migrate our custom ERP supply chain system to Oracle Cloud Supply Chain, this position will be a critical role in our global supply chain transformation tasked with modernizing, streamlining and optimization of our EDI processing in the cloud. This cutting edge thinking will include looking at alternative EDI cloud vendors, potentially bringing EDI processing back in-house, and working with the architecture team to streamline workflows and integrations.

Roles and Responsibilities:

1. Leadership and Strategy:

  • Provide visionary and transformational leadership to the EDI team, aligning strategies with organizational goals.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive EDI roadmap to support supply chain transformation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate EDI processes seamlessly.

2. EDI Systems and Customer Onboarding

  • Lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of EDI systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards and business requirements.
  • Collaborate with IT teams to integrate EDI solutions with existing systems and applications.
  • Conduct regular system audits to identify and address issues, ensuring the reliability and efficiency of EDI processes.
  • Coordinate testing and validation processes to guarantee the accuracy and reliability of EDI transactions.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve integration issues, ensuring minimal disruption to business processes.
  • Lead the onboarding process for new customers onto the EDI platform and develop different processes, workflows, and integrations to streamline and simplify current state.
  • Collaborate with Sales and Customer Service teams to understand prioritization, customer requirements, and expectations.

3. EDI Standards and Compliance:

  • Stay up to date on industry-specific EDI standards and regulations and modern approaches.
  • Ensure compliance with trading partner requirements and industry standards (e.g., ANSI X12, EDIFACT).
  • Implement and manage trading partner agreements and relationships.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for EDI processes, guidelines, and best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations related to EDI, staying informed about changes and updates.
  • Create and maintain KPIs, metrics and dashboards on system usage, outstanding issues, etc.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation in EDI workflows.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to streamline and optimize business processes through EDI integration.

4. Operational Support

  • Troubleshoot, investigate, and resolve EDI-related issues in a timely manner.
  • Ensure proper monitoring and alerting is in place to ensure early detection of issues.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to address challenges and ensure smooth EDI operations.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for EDI processes, procedures, and standards.
  • Provide training and support to internal teams on EDI-related matters.
  • Plan and execute testing of EDI systems and transactions to ensure accuracy and reliability.
  • Coordinate with trading partners to validate and certify EDI transactions.

5. EDI Service Provider Management:

  • Act as the liaison between the organization and the EDI service provider.
  • Monitor service levels and performance metrics, escalating issues as needed.
  • Collaborate with the service provider to implement improvements and optimize EDI processes.
  • Implement monitoring and alerting tools and processes to track the performance and efficiency of EDI systems.
  • Proactively identify and address potential issues before they impact operations.

6. Collaboration and Team Management

  • Collaborate with internal teams, including IT, supply chain, and customer service, to ensure effective EDI communication across the organization.
  • Foster strong relationships with external trading partners and vendors.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with customers, vendors, and EDI service providers.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for EDI-related inquiries and issue resolution.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address customer needs and enhance overall satisfaction.
  • Hold quarterly executive level QBR with executives to review quarterly accomplishments/progress and roadmap.
  • Take primary responsibility for day-to-day execution and planning, team development, scheduling, and resourcing.
  • Mature and empower team to grow; develop a training plan for each member of EDI team; ensure they get training on end-to-end flows, processes, and technologies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Proven experience (10+ years) in EDI management, specifically with the OpenText/GXS platform
  • Proven experience (5+) working with Oracle Cloud Supply Chain Management (SCM) 
  • Strong understanding of EDI standards, protocols, and file formats (ANSI X12, EDIFACT, XML, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of ERP/Supply Chain systems, processes (Order to Invoice) and integration tools (Boomi, Mulesoft, Tibco, Oracle Integration Cloud etc..).
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
