Job Description

JOB PURPOSE-

Obtain an extensive knowledge of the Skechers product line you will represent for International Joint Venture (Asia).  Support company objectives to enable growth and profitability in the International Merchandising division.  Offer new ideas and solutions to increase sales. Analyze the business to determine additional opportunities.  Effectively communicate all directives on product to Joint Venture partners via presentations, emails, and conference calls – both in person and virtually.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESULTS-

Understanding Product:

Become a product expert of your product lines.  Manage and communicate product assortments, inventory levels, review sales, and sample orders for JV merchandising partners. Determine when to react to best sellers and identify growth opportunities while understanding consumer and product trends.  Candidate must consistently monitor the JV regions to find growth opportunities and communicate that to the regional merchandising teams.

Daily and weekly duties:

  • Build and manage assortments across multiple Asia JV countries at omnichannel level
  • Key merchandising leader for respective footwear categories – bringing sound experience to drive growth and offering efficient work processes to the JV merchandising team & counterparts
  • Review overall sales and identify growth opportunities within each market thru data analytics
  • Communicate effectively with JV counterparts to share feedback on missed opportunities and/or re-orders as necessary
  • Strategize on seasonal line plan assortment by providing projections by outsole/category
  • Share vital information to Asia JV partners regarding product availability, sales samples, sales trends, key initiatives, marketing strategies and product direction
  • Key merchandising ambassador of corporate initiatives while maintaining a strong understanding of regional needs within Asia JV
  • Collaborate and communicate with VP – GMM of International, and cross functional partners within International Merchandising, Product Development, Planning, and Sample Teams
  • Demonstrate high level of quality work focusing with specific attention to details.
  • Ability to work independently, but also convey successful team building skills.
  • Run reports and produce sales analysis / inventory management documents across the Asia JV region
  • Aggressive sales approach is needed.  As there are few occasions to work in person, phone calls and emails are essential to success in this position.  The associate merchandiser must be comfortable with phone communications and in-person product presentations.

International Product Conferences (held seasonally):

  • Attend Global conference in our Manhattan Beach Showroom twice a year, extending into the weekend if necessary.
  • Build rapport with Joint Venture merchandising regions to grow and develop relationships.
  • Possible evening calls with JV partners due to time zone difference
  • Work with JV partners to understand their business focusing on key assortments and product on order.  Make educated recommendations for styles that can work in their markets thru analysis of respective countries.
  • Become an expert in your lines as this position requires you have extensive product knowledge of a large volume of SKUs.
  • Present product lines to internal teams at all levels

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE-

  • 7+ years of Merchandising/Buying/Planning experience
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Able to manage multiple priorities and timelines
  • Strong presentation skills to an audience of all levels
  • Advanced Excel and Microsoft PPT skills
  • Experienced data analytics and business acumen
  • High problem-solving skills and ability to execute and train team members
  • International experience a plus
  • Previous tradeshow experience a plus
  • Sales background a plus

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and talk or hear.  The employee frequently is required to walk; sit, reach with hands and arms, and stoop, kneel. The employee is occasionally required to sit for long period of times.

Pay range for this position is $95,000-$105,000
