Job Description
The Skechers Costing team is responsible for management and communication of weekly, monthly and seasonal sales and inventory reports, analysis, and strategy recommendations, margin analysis and costing strategies, working cross-functionally with our Merchandising, Design and Sales teams to achieve key financial objectives.
The Merchandising Analyst Intern is a valued member of the team focusing on the day-to-day operations of the Apparel office and supporting company-wide initiatives that will ensure continued growth of the Skechers Apparel brand. This role reports to the Sr. Costing Manager in our Manhattan Beach location (on site 5 days a week).
The role supports the Product Management and Sales teams with relevant data to drive the business, provides critical administrative functions, and collaborates with cross-functional partners to ensure the key strategies and pricing are executed. We are looking for a candidate who possesses strong organizational skills, is energized by multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment, is curious about business trends and analytics, and has a passion for product, planning, customer experience, and delivering results.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Generate and analyze sales/inventory reports, productivity reports, excess reports, best/worst selling reports, pricing reports, and ad hoc requests, seasonal product guides.
- Maintain monthly size tracking analysis.
- Implement and maintain location analysis reporting.
- Maintain style attributing for use in various merchandise reporting.
- Attend relevant team meetings to support merchandising conversations with historical reporting and facts.
Qualifications
- Fluency in MS Excel, pivot tables, vlookup, sumif etc.
- Good with math and analyzing numbers.
- Ability to problem solve when faced with complex tasks in a fast paced environment.
- Must have an interest in the business of apparel retailing, retail math, key metrics to gauge success in the apparel industry.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in finance, operations, research, statistics, math, economics, or related analytical discipline preferred.
- Experience working in an apparel retail store preferred but not required.
