Job Description

The Director of Cloud Engineering is a seasoned leader and specialist responsible for designing and implementing the cloud adoption process to power digital transformation at Skechers. The individual will manage the team that designs, deploys and operates cloud infrastructure and streamlines the deployment of applications to the cloud - both cloud-native and traditional for speed and resilience in operations. Candidate must be able to guide and manage engineering teams on developing and deploying these solutions and also collaborate with existing application teams to solve complex business challenges.

This is a stakeholder facing role functioning between the infrastructure and application teams at Skechers globally by building a secure cloud foundation and bring on board next gen business capabilities. The team under will work on foundational capabilities including microservices, container orchestration, API Gateways, Infrastructure as Code, Shared Identity Providers among others. As a candidate, you must have a sound understanding of technology architecture with very good communication skills.
 

JOB RESPONSIBILTIES-

  • Defines and executes a strategic vision and tactical roadmap for a scalable, performant, efficient Platform as a Service and supporting tools that provide a first-class developer experience.
  • Provides leadership in technology architecture and platform design for cloud capabilities, while establishing strategy in alignment with organizational priorities
  • Provide ownership of cloud products and platforms while driving to deliver “self-service” capabilities appropriate for application & development teams
  • Scales Cloud platform through building hardened and secured Cloud services and drive adoption by product development teams to accelerate business value delivery.
  • Communicates cloud value proposition to range of audiences including senior management, cross-functional teams, and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Recruit, retain, coach, and inspire a healthy, diverse, highly engaged team and culture.
  • Ensure team members have clear, measurable goals, responsibilities, and performance standards. Provide mentorship and feedback to help the team excel.
  • Create the overall vision for Cloud technologies considering specific components are appropriately designed and leveraged; contributes to the holistic vision of enterprise application and cloud architecture.
  • Collaborates with applications, architecture, cybersecurity, operations, infrastructure and product delivery teams to establish a framework that integrates industry best practices

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS-

  • Proven experience with modern DevOps practices, including automation, continuous delivery, continuous deployment, and continuous integration methodologies.
  • Expertise in Cloud Engineering and an advisor who creates best practices and ensures alignment with the future state reference architecture and engineering practices.
  • Experienced with platform engineering practices to drive speed to market with security focus 
  • Deep knowledge and experience in AWS public cloud architectures and their native services
  • Understanding of cloud computing business drivers, emerging computing trends, cloud-based business continuity and disaster recovery practices
  • Strategic thought leader for public/private hybrid cloud operations and DevOps experience transforming culture from legacy practices 
  • Metrics-guided approach to drive operational efficiencies 
  • 10+ years of overall platform engineering, technology experience
  • At least 5 years of professional experience managing and leading teams at an enterprise level

Qualifications

ADDITIONAL SKILLS-

  • Knowledge and experience in Azure, GCP, OCI a plus
  • Operations leadership including infrastructure administration, application support, software configuration management, and tools development 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE-

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Information Technology, Computer Science
  • AWS Certification at professional level

The salary range for this position is $155,000 -$185,000/year.
