Job Description

The Manager of IT Business Operations role will help guide the digital transformation activities at Skechers in the areas of financial management, strategic planning, technology procurement, and vendor management. This role will lead and manage several of the organization’s high priority initiatives to enhance and ensure accountability to commitments, efficiency in spending and staffing management, and measurement for effectiveness, quality, maturity, and continuous improvement.  This position will work with IT functional leaders in setting targets, establishing department budgets, monitoring performance, and managing IT service in an efficient and effective manner. The Manager provides thought leadership in resolving issues and mitigating risks while ensuring that strong financial controls and oversight are in place at all times.  This role will align to a program of process improvement and technology change in support of the IT strategy.

RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THE FOLLOWING FUNCTIONS-

Financial Management

    • Coordinate with department heads and liaise with Skechers Finance to ensure the IT organization meets all financial timelines and deliverables including the Annual Operating Plan, and Quarterly Forecast
    • Oversee day to day technology spend and provide cost visibility by meeting regularly with IT leaders to ensure the spend is aligned with company and Technology Department goals and objectives
    • Review cost results with the Sr. Director of Business Operations and the SVP of IT on a regular basis to highlight overall IT department performance and coordinate on all finance related deliverables
    • Work closely with the Portfolio Management Team and the Director of Project Management to ensure appropriate project information and prioritization data is collected (e.g., project costs (actuals vs. budget), post-deployment support costs, business benefits, (NPV, ROI), analyzed, and reported on a regular basis
    • Identify opportunities to rationalize and redirect IT spend as needed
    • Work closely with IT department heads and their teams to manage IT headcount and contractor requests and ensure all resources are accurately reported 

Strategic Planning & Cross-Functional Team Collaboration

  • Coordinate strategic planning efforts, cascade goals and objectives throughout IT ensuring everyone understands their part in meeting goals and objectives
  • Provide visibility and support for the IT Investment Portfolio/Roadmap to IT leadership and ensure the roadmap supports financial and strategic business objectives and priorities
  • Maintain strong relationships with IT leadership and department heads as well as Finance and Accounting teams, working closely to ensure consistent application of IT methodologies as well as recommendations for enhancements and improvements
  • Provide continuous improvement through analysis, process improvement, metrics reporting and program maturity tracking
  • Establish and build strategic relationships with executives, clients, and peer organizations

Technology Procurement and Vendor Management

  • Oversee the IT Purchasing function, collaborating with Skechers Finance to modernize process and technology in support of efficiency
  • Ensure standard cost accounts are applied accurately and consistently to all purchases in coordination with the Skechers standard chart of accounts
  • Apply best practices to the overall purchasing process, including goods receipt, loss prevention, and inventory/asset management
  • Ensure invoice approvals are managed properly in conjunction with Skechers Accounts Payable/Finance systems and processes
  • Ensure compliance to sourcing processes and IT contracts; manage contractual obligations with existing program management processes
  • Maintain a governance model with standard rules of engagement across multiple vendors
  • Establish internal standards and processes for working with vendors, ensure vendor spend is well managed, and maintain the process to renew agreements in alignment with the IT Plan
  • Measure satisfaction with the delivery of vendor products and services
  • Manage financial lifecycle of external IT spend
  • Handle vendor escalations and facilitate dispute resolution
  • Monitor vendor service levels and assess financial penalties for missed SLAs
  • Provide a single, consolidated view of the vendor environment
  • Ensure compliance on software license usage for strategic vendors to mitigate unplanned license spend true-ups, and where necessary, maintain a process and tool to support license user reassignments

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS-

  • BA/BS in business, computer science, other business/tech field or equivalent work experience
  • 8-10 years in IT/IS with 5-7 years in a corporate information technology role
  • Prior management experience a plus
  • The candidate must have proven experience in working in a matrix environment and managing multiple stakeholders and possess leadership presence/gravitas.
  • Experience in project and program management is required, including, but not limited to:
    • Experience with process re-engineering
    • Experience working with business executives on change management
  • The candidate must have a strong financial analysis background with proven career progression, problem solving skills, comfort with ambiguity, and the ability to think strategically, analytically, and creatively
  • Highly skilled with Microsoft Office products especially Excel
  • Smartsheet experience a plus
  • PeopleSoft and/or Oracle Cloud Financials experience a plus
