Job Description

Skechers IT is transforming our engineering practice by embracing high-performing, cloud native APIs and applications using a modern technology stack that includes serverless, microservices, containers, QA automation, and event-drive, zero-touch CI/CD delivery pipelines.

The Lead of DevOps and SRE is a key role within the Enterprise Applications organization, responsible for supporting agile software delivery and application support under an SRE model. The Lead of DevOps and SRE will be leading the DevOps engineering team and responsible for vision, strategy and execution. This role will work closely with our AWS Cloud Engineers, Applications Engineers, QA Engineers, and Security teams working on foundational technologies like serverless APIs (Lambda), container orchestration (AWS Fargate), telemetry (DataDog), CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions) and security tools (SonarQube, ShiftLeft).

The candidate should be an experienced and motivated technologist who possesses a unique balance of technical depth and strong interpersonal skills. Should have excellent communication and design skills, shows commitment, planning, integrity, and pragmatic approach to drive organization towards continual success.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES-

  • Lead the team responsible for building, delivering, and maintaining CI/CD delivery pipelines and driving towards event-driven, zero-touch deployments.
  • Evolve our pipelines to embrace blue-green/canary releases, automated rollbacks, CT (Continuous Testing), and bring a “speed with quality and security” mindset.
  • Partner with engineering teams to increase release velocity and decrease customer feed-back loop
  • Lead and evolve our monitoring and alerting tools and processes enabling systems and software engineering teams to operate and monitor their services and systems.
  • Establish a vision and plan to drive Skechers towards an SRE model.
  • Evolve application support by managing an offshore application support team, moving team towards observability/telemetry via AIOps, and embracing Chaos engineering.
  • Partner closely AWS Cloud Engineers, Applications Engineers, QA Engineers, and Security teams to understand and support business and technical vision and direction.
  • Foster an atmosphere of accountability and continuous improvement, serving as a coach, mentor and technical advisor.
  • Manage metrics associated with DevOps and team’s adherence to estimation, task management and time tracking
  • Manage relationships with strategic partners to facilitate the identification of new and innovative ways to deliver business outcomes with modern technology
  • Attract, retain, and develop DevOps and SRE engineers
  • Drive roadmap creation and execution, define OKRs, and continually measure against the target
  • Managing the team accountable for issue and defect triage, including application incident management and reporting
  • Accountable for managing the various escalation processes for multiple work efforts including Incident Tickets, Service Requests, Root Cause Analysis, and /or Escalated Workarounds
  • Responsible for application support best practices, technical and operating standards (e.g. Run time improvements, Data Quality improvements) and workflow process

Qualifications

JOB REQUIREMENTS-

  • Proven experience with modern DevOps practices such as event-driven/zero-touch pipelines, blue-green/canary releases, automated rollbacks, etc.
  • Extensive experience setting up and building continuous integration and deployment solutions like Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitOps, Spinnaker, AWS CodeDeploy, etc.
  • Demonstrated deployments of enterprise software systems and SaaS products using industry standard environments
  • Experience integrating security and code quality tools, such as ShiftLeft and SonarQube, into delivery pipelines.
  • Experience working with monitoring/alerting/observability tools (DataDog, Splunk, PagerDuty, etc)
  • Experience working in SRE model a plus
  • Experience working AWS and private cloud
  • Experience with containers and serverless technologies
  • Experience leading business critical systems with availability goal of 99.9
  • Background in managing complex technology challenges
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with which you build and maintain strong multi-functional partnerships and relationships at all levels of the organization
  • Previously managed team of engineers and have been responsible for their career growth.
  • Ability to attract, develop, and keep high-quality multi-disciplinary teams

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE-

  • 5+ years of experience working in DevOps and SRE field
  • 5+ years with AWS
  • 2+ years of experience managing technical teams
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering preferred
  • Cloud/DevOps technology certifications are a plus
