Job Description

JOB PURPOSE-

  • To ensure the Skechers PR team remains organized, and documents are up to date to assist in PR forecasting and planning. 
  • Strategically coordinate and develop targeted pitches, specific to the target demo for Skechers lifestyle divisions – ultimately securing placements and stories in appropriate fashion, pop culture and fitness media when applicable.  
  • Coordinate content and product calendars. 
  • To stay in the know of relevant fashion trends, events surrounding fashion, and pop culture. 
  • To build the Skechers brand through influencer and celebrity partnerships and seedings.
  • Possibly representing the brand to press at events, tradeshows, openings, etc. 

ESSENTIAL JOB RESULTS-

Press

  • Occasionally assist in media outreach for product placement (digital media, celebrity weekly magazines, blogs, vlogs, regional TV shows)
  • Identify and execute brand integration opportunities for magazines events, awards shows, blogger events, music festivals, media tours, celebrity partnerships and allocate quarterly budget
  • Prepare & ship mailings for gifts, social posts, and new product launches (editors, celebrities, influencers, ambassadors etc.)
  • Assist in executing local press outreach for BOBS donation events
  • Organize daily hits in media monitoring portal, Google alerts, and manual searches (daily)
  • Scan /screen cap and file press placements for long lead, short lead and online media (daily)
  • Identify and execute influencer placements for key Company initiatives 
  • Assist in building the rolodex of gifted influencers, celebrities, and stylists

Travel

  • Travel to events including BOBS from Skechers donation events when needed and the Skechers Pier to Pier Friendship Walk 
  • Weekly newsstand visit to purchase magazines / newspapers with press hits
  • Organization
  • Coordinate PR calendars (master, seasonal pitch, BOBS from Skechers, ambassador posts, etc.)
  • Maintain and build editor contact list for print, online and broadcast media
  • Coordinate event organization and execution 
  • Organize daily hits in broadcast monitoring portal and delete irrelevant content (daily)
  • Submit and log shoe orders to data entry
  • Ship and manage inventory of press samples

Qualifications

JOB REQUIREMENTS-

  • Interest in Public Relations
  • Interest in fashion and fashion trends 
  • Knowledge of press outlets including fashion online and print
  • Knowledge and interest in pop culture and social media, including influencers
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to multi-task as similar to an agency environment. 
  • Must have a strong command of Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills. 
  • Must possess strong organizational and time management skills, with attention to detail and ability to prioritize multiple projects and priorities with minimal supervision.
  • Flexibility to frequent changes and ability to react quickly.
  • Ability to develop strong interpersonal relationships and work cross-functionally on projects to success.
  • Must display a high degree of professionalism, tact and diplomacy.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE-

  1. College degree – Emphasis in Marketing/PR/Communications preferred. 
  2. Minimum of 3 years of Fashion, Athletic or Footwear PR experience.
  3. Established contacts in fashion, running/fitness, charity, and TV media a plus.
