JOB PURPOSE-

You have a unique opportunity to join an emerging Data and Analytics team at the ground level. This role will allow you to make a significant impact to the overall success of this highly visible, innovative group.  You will be part of building the practice and solutions as we digitize our Data Platform and Architecture.

Skechers is looking for a Data Engineer with both conceptual and hands-on experience of providing business critical data for reporting, BI, and analytics initiatives. An ideal candidate must be enthused about all spectrums of data development, including data integration, data processing, ETL/ELT, data modeling, and delivering data to business reporting. The candidate will be a quick learner, collaborative, and exhibit data driven behavior.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESULTS- 

  • As a part of the Skechers Data and Analytics team you will work with key stakeholders to deliver our goal of providing business critical data for reporting, BI and analytics.
  • To achieve this goal, you will be involved in the design and implementation of the full cycle of data services from data ingestion, data processing, and data delivery for analytical purposes.
  • You will work with internal data & analytics and business teams on identifying and building applications that will enable data decisions.
  • Represent Data Engineering in settings where in depth technical expertise is needed such as knowledge transfers, working sessions, and interactions with business teams.

Qualifications

JOB REQUIREMENTS-

  • Experience in end-to-end data pipelining
  • Programming experience in at least one of the following: Python/Java/ Scala/Go
  • Working experience with CDC tools such as Qlik replicate/Debezium/Golden Gate
  • Hands on experience working with one of the following Cloud Providers: AWS/Azure/GCP
  • A good understanding of NoSQL and RDMS data stores
  • Strong skills in SQL
  • Experience in distributed systems driving large-scale data processing and analytics
  • Experience with AWS catalog or similar such as Athena/Glue/Lambda/EMR
  • Good working experience with Apache Spark
  • Experience working with one of the Cloud Data Warehouses such as Snowflake/ Redshift/Big Query
  • Experience with Linux KSH/bash scripting

PLUS-

  • Experience in event processing such Apache Kafka, Kinesis, Redpanda
  • Experience with DevOps process and tools such as GitHub, Jenkins and JFrog
  • Exposure to SaaS products such as Databricks, Astronomer, and Confluent
  • Experience with any ANSI SQL based engine for Big Data
  • Experience with Data modeling

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE-

  • 2 + years of software development experience with proficiency in Python, Scala or Java
  • 2+ years of experience defining, designing and delivering data pipelines and solutions
  • 2+ years of experience working with Linux based operating systems
  • 2+ years relevant experience developing and integrating frameworks and database technologies that support highly scalable data processing
  • 2+ years of programming experience with one the following: Python/Java/Scala/Go
  • At least 2 years of experience working with cloud environments, preferably AWS
  • 2+ year experience with cloud-based data warehousing systems such as Snowflake/Redshift
  • Proficient in any flavor of SQL
  • Demonstrable ability in ETL development, data warehousing, batch, and real time data processing
  • Demonstrable experience with Stream Processing and workload management for data transformation, augmentation and analysis
  • B.S. in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, another technical field, or equivalent work experience
