Job Description

The Senior Product Manager of Apparel will support the Merchandising functions within the Apparel division from ideation through commercialization under the direction of the Director of Merchandising and Design.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESULTS

  • Build and manage the Skechers Apparel product from concept to commercialization
  • Lead the Product Creation process with Design, Product Development, and Tech Design to hit overall seasonal dates
  • Monitor the development status of all projects to ensure timely commercialization
  • Monitor internal “trend: report to suggest style/color additions, buys, drops, adjusts, and reduces.
  • Drive communication with the Product Development team with ultimate accountability for margin targets
  • Knowledgeable on product creation and be the expert consumer insights, wholesale and retail feedback, market & competitive trends & present to team to ensure Skechers is building market leading product
  • Drive SKU productivity and profitability
  • Creation of seasonal Design Line Plan, assign MSRP based on hitting outlined company margin goals
  • Build and create exceptional presentations and selling tools to bring the category’s vision to life
  • Conduct consumer research to identify trends and market opportunities to maintain competitive edge
  • Drive product communication with global merchandising and sales
  • Ability to present new product line presentations to sales, retail, international, and customers when needed
  • Meet regularly with the sales teams to analyze sales results, new trends, information from key accounts and competitors as a feedback for quick response to market opportunities and continuous improvement of the apparel business
  • Ability to take direction from upper management and execute projects accordingly

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Monitor apparel inventory and trends and provide suggestions on potential opportunities/liabilities
  • Consistently review sales for wholesale, retail and international businesses and apply learnings to future assortments
  • Collaborate with design and development on product knowledge for every season/event and relay information to marketing for creation of sales/marketing tools
  • Monitor Skechers website for accuracy in photos and content
  • Review and update line sheets on itsthes.com for accuracy on a weekly basis
  • Ensure all merchandising information in PLM, Garpac and Compass are accurate and up to date for every season/event
  • Communicate all updates (Drops/Adds/Style Changes) and deadlines within each season to wholesale, retail and international partners
  • Manage all orders between businesses for each season ensuring accuracy

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to influence cross-functional partners through strong and proven relationships
  • Ability to successfully lead a cross-functional pod
  • Ability to communicate product strategies verbally and in writing
  • Strong analytical and conceptual skills.
  • Strong comprehension of retail math
  • Problem solving approach
  • Computer proficiency; Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook), PLM (Product Life Management) system.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Minimum 5+ years experience in merchandising, buying or product development
  • Experience developing pricing strategies and assortment mix that supports Brand position by channel, sales tools and executing final product mix
  • Strong understanding and sincere interest in the apparel business from several perspectives: retail, wholesale, ecommerce, international, athlete and events.
  • Adaptable with the ability to handle pressure and changing priorities with a can-do attitude.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
