Job Description

Skechers’ Infrastructure Architect is a subject matter expert responsible for the development of high-quality, reliable, and cost-effective infrastructure solutions that are designed to integrate multiple platforms and applications across the global enterprise. Using core-infrastructure and public cloud technologies, they are responsible for developing solutions to provide secure, available, and performant designs to engineering teams in variety of technical disciplines.

The Infrastructure Architect will be required to solve high-level business problems and develop scalable infrastructure solutions that conform to industry best-practices. They will also be expected to develop internal standards, analyze and align design artifacts with long-term business strategies, and track industry changes against Skechers’ current practices.

To be successful in this role, the position requires someone who will independently seek to continuously improve the quality and reliability of Skechers IT infrastructure, leading by example. They must be able to maintain a thorough understanding of modern technology solutions, strategies, and operational practices—as well as effectivity communicate in order to advise and enable the teams they will be supporting.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESULTS

  • Provide expertise on decisions regarding Skechers' systems architecture and design, including integration of applications, operating systems, WAN and LAN networking, server and storage technologies, backup strategy, monitoring, disaster recovery, and public cloud strategy.
  • Review or advise current and future designs standards for infrastructure system builds; provide input on risk, scalability, operational/cost efficiency, quality, and impact on the enterprise business process and goals.
  • Ensure the success of enterprise-level deployments in terms of performance, scalability, availability, observability, security, and disaster recovery.
  • Research, identify, and test technology products; perform proof of concepts of new technologies to determine if they are a good fit for the company and introduce new technology where needed.
  • Advise and maintain Skechers' strategic enterprise technology plan; develop and refine architectural governance, standards, and policy within the IT department.
  • Provide leadership, technology guidance, and mentorship within the IT organization.
  • Participate in the training and support of engineering and operations groups to assist in the timely resolution of incidents and requests.
  • Support Skechers' vision of growth while maintaining stability and data availability across the global enterprise.
  • Develop and execute Skechers’ cloud infrastructure adoption goals.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Occasional travel to remote offices to implement or support remote systems.
  • Occasional after-hours work to implement or support critical systems.
  • Consult with vendors and salespeople to evaluate new products and technologies.

Qualifications

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Expertise in enterprise infrastructure design, including: public cloud, networking, Windows/Linux operating system environments, and other related infrastructure components.
  • Thorough grasp of virtualization technologies and related concepts, such as: storage, compute, network virtualization, HCI, IaaS, orchestration and automation, and resource planning.
  • Hands-on familiarity with next-gen firewalls, implementation of stateful access-control lists, or application segmentation.
  • Experience designing and building cloud environments using AWS or Azure.
  • Strong understanding of cyber security principles and technologies.
  • Experience with disaster recovery planning.
  • Experience Familiarity with modern software development and DevOps concepts, workflow management, site reliability, continuous delivery and integration, micro services, RESTful APIs, and common application infrastructure patterns.
  • Experience with automation and scripting.
  • Ability to work well in both a team setting and independently to meet business objectives.
  • Ability to conceptualize, formulate, and present complex solutions to a wide audience of technology, business, and executive stakeholders..
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the specific ability to translate complex ideas into their constituent parts and vice versa.
  • Excellent documentation skills, including experience creating and maintaining architectural governance, process, standards, and policies.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • 10+ years of experience working in an enterprise IT infrastructure group.
  • 5+ years of experience in a principal design role.
  • AWS or Azure Solutions Architect certification a plus.
