Job Description

JOB PURPOSE -

As Director of IT Project Management, you will provide strategic leadership over a team of project managers working on critical technology initiatives. In this role, you will align project outcomes with overarching business objectives to drive value and support cross-functional partnerships.

Leveraging exceptional communication, collaboration, and coaching skills, the Director will promote transparency, accountability, and process excellence across project management operations. You will own the aggregated project portfolio view and make decisive recommendations to optimize resource utilization and strategic alignment.

  • Provides executive-level oversight of all information technology projects to ensure alignment with business goals, focused resource utilization, and unified standards for success.
  • Cultivates transparency and accountability across project management operations through consistent communications, detailed reporting, and process optimization.
  • Champions professional excellence and leads by example to motivate the project management team, engage diverse stakeholders, and drive results.
  • Partners with business leaders and technology heads to understand objectives, advise on solutions, and evaluate project proposals and progress with a strategic lens.
  • Leads the end-to-end life cycle for critical, enterprise-level technology implementations that require complex coordination.
  • Develops and nurtures an inclusive and ethical culture focused on mentorship, upskilling, and inspiring the highest caliber of performance.
  • Creates aggregated project portfolio views and recommends decisions about resource assignments, budgets, timelines, and continuance based on data-driven insights.
  • Standardizes methodologies and tools to build repeatable, efficient and risk-aware project management capabilities across the organization.

  • Provides strategic leadership over project management operations, including hiring and developing top talent, coaching for excellence, and setting priorities aligned to business goals.
  • Leads the end-to-end project life cycle from planning to execution, enabling product roadmaps and quality standards through cross-functional alignment, risk mitigation, and focused resource utilization.
  • Cultivates transparency and accountability across the project portfolio via consistent communications, detailed reporting, budget tracking, and resource forecasting.
  • Partners with senior management and diverse stakeholders to translate business objectives into comprehensive project plans spanning requirements, timelines, budgets, and success metrics.
  • Balances project constraints through data-driven analysis, adaptable decision-making, and overarching focus on driving outcomes in support of Skechers' strategic priorities.
  • Promotes professional excellence and leads by example to motivate the team, facilitate collaboration, optimize workflows, and ensure quality delivery.
  • Creates a culture focused on mentorship, upskilling, ethics and inclusivity to inspire individual growth and the highest caliber of performance.

JOB REQUIREMENTS-

  • Demonstrated knowledge of project management skills including initiating, planning, executing, monitoring/controlling, and closing processes.
  • Proven ability to lead, coach and motivate teams to work together to ensure success.  Ability to mentor staff, assisting them to achieve professional designations and career growth objectives.
  • Must have well-developed people skills with the ability to establish highly functional relationships with diverse personalities both within and outside the company.
  • Entrepreneurial thinking with strategic planning and analytical skills. Ability to get things done and drive projects to fruition.
  • Strong background on current project management practices including SCRUM management practices and associated tools (Jira, Confluence, Slack, etc.), Waterfall and Hybrid project management approaches.
  • Strong understanding of conceptual estimating and budgeting, keen knowledge of current market pricing and IT trends.
  • Proven ability to measure project performance using appropriate tools, systems, and techniques.
  • Champion, lead and/or participate in change initiatives and/or task force initiatives, as requested for program execution. Implement key departmental processes at the project level, participate in routine process refinement.
  • Ability to identify and solve problems quickly and efficiently and creatively and come up with innovative solutions.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple project teams with diverse backgrounds, skills and knowledge. 
  • Ability to make tough decisions, act quickly when needed, and manage conflict while providing advice and guidance to the team and key stakeholders.
  • Play a key role in ensuring project managers are actively monitoring and managing project dependencies within the portfolio.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE-

  • 10+ years project management experience working in an IT environment running technical projects.
  • 8+ years experience working with IT executive management and C-level leadership.
  • 5+ years in leading and managing a project management team.
  • A bachelor’s degree in project management, business administration, or a related field. Having a master's degree or a certification from a project management organization will be an added advantage.
  • certifications like PMP, SCRUM Master, CPM, and PRINCE2.
  • Working knowledge of project management software and other applications including MS Office and Smartsheet.
