Job Description

Area Sales Manager North - Based in or around Nottingham/Manchester area.

To achieve yearly targets of sales based on margin, inventory and key drivers whilst displaying a sound business acumen and understanding of the accounts business and their needs.  You will be working closely with key functions within the business and hold responsibility for the delivery of sales and profit to agreed KPI’s.  This role will ensure new channels of distribution are also explored to allow the business to grow in line with expectations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Commercial

  • Achieve annual commercial sales targets – revenue, pairs, AVP.
  • Practising true account penetration with each account, across buying, merchandising, marketing, and creative departments, building trusting relationships with all appropriate personnel to develop and understand their business needs whilst communicating the objectives of Skechers.
  • Manage the sell-in process of a specific product genders/account base ensuring delivery of key propositions through persuasive selling and an emphasis on thorough preparation, an excellent understanding of customer needs and focus on achieving goals.
  • Organise and undertake quarterly business reviews with top accounts and monthly business reviews internally to maintain focus and ensure all possible steps are being taken to deliver the plan.
  • Work with the finance team to proactively avoid credit issues that hinder shipping or lead to bad debt.
  • Always keep abreast of the marketplace identifying buying trends arising from all channels
  • Build good working relationships with the buyers and merchandisers.
  • Maintain regular contact with Customer Service team and respond to queries in a timely manner.  Help manage your order book, and work as liaison with the Customer and Internal.
  • Provide regular updates to the Sales Manager weekly on the gender, specific accounts

Product

  • Know the product line and becoming an expert across the genders.  Learn about and know the key sellers and newly bought and adopted styles. Identify opportunities to place it.
  • Plan and implement strategy to deliver KPI’s set by the business whilst being commercial and aware of the distribution strategy and its impact.
  • Use the tools of the business Itsthes/Smartview to be able to plan and execute your sell in.

Finance

  • Work in line with the finance team to ensure the order book can be delivered.
  • Identify and report areas of risk amongst account base early.
  • Ensure all new account documentation is completed correctly, in full and signed.
  • Regular meetings to be held with Credit Control to ensure accounts are running smoothly.

Customer Services

  • Maintain regular contact with the Customer Service Representative responding to queries from Customer Services in a timely manner.
  • Help manage the order book, and work as liaison with Customer and Internal.

Marketing

  • Be involved and help drive activity within your account base and update the business of progress and results.
  • Ensure all accounts continue to represent the brand as expected through use of POP and online support.

Qualifications

  • Proven track record of managing and delivering consistent results as an Area Sales Manager or above.
  • Strong planning, organisational and prioritisation skills with ability to be self-sufficient.
  • High level of literacy and numeracy, and comfortable using data analytically, strategically, and commercially.
  • Ability to work to deadlines, analyse and identify trends, and report to line manager.
  • Experience in product segmentation, delivering proposition in line with brand strategy and understanding competition law.
  • Flexible, confident, professional, and articulate with a “can do” attitude and strong team player.
  • Tenacious with a passion to achieve results, strong negotiation skills and able to influence decisions internally and externally.
  • Challenge and recommend new ideas and be willing to take risks to drive strategies and efficiencies.
  • Demonstrates a passion for bringing the voice of the customer back into the business.
  • Diplomatic, confidential, and professional.
  • Works with customers and internal teams to implement solutions.
  • Pro –Active, exceptionally well organised and able to prioritise behind areas which add the greatest value to Skechers.
  • Strong computer skills in MS Office and proficient in Excel.
  • This role will incorporate extensive travel across the UK & Ireland and potential trips Internationally as and when required.
