Job Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Must have automation experience with the Pocket Sorter and Shuttle system.  We looking for experience with KNAPP, Dematic or any other Pocket Sorter.

Optimize the performance and flow of a complex material handling equipment system by analyzing upcoming work (including incorporating the release of real time e-commerce and wholesale orders into the work plan), planning work to either a pocket sorter or cross-belt sorter, redirecting labor, and ensuring associates are properly trained and qualified for the work that they are doing

 

Manage a pocket/pouch sorting system for order fulfillment

 

Independent of the pocket/pouch system, manage a separate goods-to-person picking area that picks partial case quantities for orders being fulfilled on the cross-belt sorter, including operator sorting to a put-to-light wall for future waves

 

Manage the storage and throughput capacity of a large multi-shuttle AS/RS that acts as a consolidation and staging buffer for Receiving, Order Processing, and Shipping operations, including regular clean-up of slow-moving SKUs and empty totes

 

  • Manage the storage and throughput capacity of a unit-level pocket/pouch storage array that acts as a staging buffer for Order Processing and Returns operations, including regular clean-up of slow-moving SKUs
  • Manage the throughput capacity of a Pallet Build area that is fed by Receiving and a multi-shuttle ASRS that acts as a consolidation and staging buffer and handles pallet building for Receiving, Inventory Consolidation, Shipping, and other miscellaneous operations
  • Manage an Apparel VAS area
  • Manage a case-level Replenishment operation from Reserve storage to a) the multi-shuttle buffer for re-pack fulfillment operations and b) to an automated Print & Apply system and a separate Pack & Hold mini-load AS/RS, for full cases going outbound.
  • Ensure continuous improvement of the warehouse operation to evolving business needs

 

  • Develops and achieves assigned goals and objectives.
  • Accountable for all distribution operations and total flow of goods through the distribution locations. Including overall safety, quality and performance and customer service.
  • Leads efforts to find innovative ways or methods to use technology to increase inventory flow, handling, and accuracy.
  • Leads continuous improvement efforts.
  • Partners with and coordinates closely with the other work groups including Planning & Allocation, Merchandising, IT and outside vendors.
  • Develops and prepares annual operating budgets and ensures compliance. Achieves operating and financial goals and objectives.
  • Leads associate relations efforts and opportunities.
  • Develops, directs and implements programs to maintain and/or improve DC equipment and facilities. Selects outside vendor services, justifies new expenditures, calculates return (ROI) and evaluates and recommends strategies for meeting increasing sales/volume demands and timeliness/accuracy of shipments to consumers.
  • Complies with all regulations with respect to DOT, OSHA, DOL and any other federal, state and local authority.
  • Mentor train and develop teammates for care progression and learning.

Qualifications

Required Skills and Competencies:

 

  • Five (5) or more years of experience in warehouse automation, material handling equipment, and warehouse operations in a large, omni-channel distribution center, including direct experience with high-speed unit sortation, AS/RS systems, parcel singulator, and leading WCS or WES systems
  • Understands material flow optimization
  • Strong data analytics background
  • Fundamental understanding of warehouse operations, including WMS software, building layout optimization, order-filling methods, and work standards
  • Clear understanding of MHE technologies, including conveyors, sortation equipment, merges and related automation equipment
  • A Leader who can contribute new ideas and provide solutions in support of operations
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical business leaders
  • High attention to detail including proven ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously
  • Ability to think strategically and execute methodically
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and ambiguous environment where continuous innovation is desired
  • Willingness to roll up their sleeves and do whatever is necessary, owner mentality

  • Proficiency in PowerPoint, Word, and Excel. Advanced knowledge of Excel is required, including use of pivot tables

  • Establishes performance standards and provides management tools/resources to identify performance improvement.
  • WMS system management experience (preferably PKMS)
  • Experience in large scale operations and automation.
  • High proficiency with MS Excel to track productivity and identify continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Conducts annual associate performance evaluations and recommends appropriate rewards within a policy and budgetary constraint framework that is fair, equitable and competitive. Identifies marginal and high performers and takes action to correct deficiencies or to reward/recognize high performers.
  • Provides training and development programs designed to improve, enhance and/or maintain or exceed performance standards. Works with Human Resources to implement training resources.
  • Complies with federal, state and local labor/employment laws and pay regulations.
  • Promotes strong fiscal and ethical standards throughout the organization.
  • Must be able to work weekends, holidays and/or overnight shifts.

Experience:

  • 7-10 years DC management operations role
  • 2-5 years General Manager responsibility

Education:

  • Minimum B. S. Degree in Business (prefer Logistics or Industrial Engineering major) or equivalent experience
  • Masters in Logistics or MBA helpful
