Job Description

  • Work with the VP on daily to oversee the work of personnel engaged in day-to-day Facilities activity. Supervise and direct the work according to the daily plan, prioritize work with the VP, inspecting work for completeness, accuracy, and quality 1) while in progress; 2) upon completion and; 3) periodically after completion
  • Assist in training of Facility Techs as needed
  • Coordinate with Facility Techs with system stoppage issues, including conveyor jams and equipment breakages. Notify and coordinate with VP depending on severity and frequency
  • Assist the VP with coordinating department activities with other departmental supervisors and contractors.
  • Follow up weekly with VP on routine and Preventive Facility program. Prioritize and estimate work using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) that generates work orders, maintains work records, handles parts inventory, tracks expenditures, and prepares reports
  • Confer with VP Maintenance & Facilities and departmental leads on Spare Parts inventory (including control of/access to Consignment parts areas once established), ensuring cleanliness of shop and storage areas and organization of parts
  • Work with the VP of Maintenance & Facilities to determine whether to restore, repair, rebuild, or replace faulty or inoperative components and parts
  • Evaluate functionality and reliability of MHE systems and associated equipment by conferring with VP on performance of each designated area and studying performance results; identify problem areas
  • Project manage (MHE) and Facilities projects, new and equipment upgrades
  • VP will coordinate on any second or third shift emergency breakdowns
  • Perform the work of lower level positions and complete the more technical and complex tasks of the work unit as needed, including troubleshooting problems
  • Confer with VP on any compliance with quality, health and safety rules, guidelines and regulations
  • Attend staff and management meetings as needed

Qualifications

  • Experience with Distribution and/or commercial building maintenance
  • Experience with general roof inspections (Roof Drains, Exhaust fans, AC, Roof
  • membrane)
  • Experience with landscaping
  • Experience with plumbing
  • Experience with painting
  • Experience with carpentry
  • Experience with lighting
  • Knowledge of electricity and electric control panels (Any training or schooling a plus)
  • Experience with drywall installation and repair
  • Experience with concrete repairs & coatings
  • Experience with high bay racking
  • Experience with roll up doors
  • Experience with Janitorial requirements and supplies (good housekeeping)
  • Experience in all building safety and safety for all personnel   
  • Ability to identify facility needs and or potential problem areas
  • Ability to use all shop tools
  • The ability to communicate with outside vendors or contractors and be able to negotiate any needed work and /or corrections
  • The ability to give directive to all facility staff and leads
  • Plan out daily work loads
  • Plan out daily, weekly, and monthly routine maintenance
  • Be able to manage all housekeeping staff
  • Perform annual reviews
  • Must have thorough knowledge of all shop tools.
  • Knowledge of all applicable safety rules and regulations, with the understanding of extended safety required in the Maintenance, electrical, technical trades required to perform repairs on the above listed equipment through previous training and or job experience as well as any classroom training.
  • Must be CAL OSHA certified on a Turret, Reach, Order Picker, Walker Rider, Manual Pallet equipment, etc.
  • Ability to keep the department OSHA Compliant.
  • Extensive knowledge of all company policies and procedures with an emphasis on safety
  • Communicate with upper management daily
  • Ability to take directives from direct supervisor
  • Exhibit excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Must be detail oriented
  • Must be able to take constructive criticism
  • Must always exhibit the ability to work in a professional and courteous manner  
  • Must be able to perform any other special projects and/or general requests made by direct supervisor as needed
  • Ability to contribute hands on.
  • Work with minimal supervision
  • Perform housekeeping duties when needed
