Job Description

The Senior Cloud Engineer is responsible for design, configuration, maintenance, and support of Skechers’ cloud infrastructure, as well as the service infrastructure and internal resources associated with Skechers’ cloud operations. They will be expected to work closely with multiple IT groups to help use the public cloud to solve complex IT problems with an emphasis on availability, automation, scalability, and process. In addition, they will be also responsible for resolving issues escalated from the Infrastructure and Development teams as it pertains to cloud operations and best practices.

This role will be a critical part of our infrastructure engineering team and help drive foundational change in Skechers’ cloud infrastructure practice. To be successful, the position will require an individual who can understand and translate enterprise infrastructure needs into modern cloud practices in order to build, automate, and broker cloud services to internal IT teams as well as the rest of the company. They must be able to maintain a thorough understanding of modern technology solutions, strategies, and operational practices—as well as effectivity communicate in order to advise and enable the teams they will be supporting.

Essential Job Results-

  • Build, deploy, and maintain production infrastructure in Skechers’ cloud infrastructure environments.
  • Monitor cloud performance and resource utilization to ensure availability and reliability.
  • Develop workflow automation and infrastructure-as-code to support CI/CD development models.
  • Create and maintain documentation of technical processes and cloud infrastructure with diagrams and KB articles.
  • Assist group leaders and Architects to identify programs and processes that could benefit from transformation to the public cloud.
  • Assist in developing and enforcing best practices for design, build, and operations in the public cloud space.
  • Keep up to date with the latest technology and trends in the IaaS and PaaS space.
  • Work with the Information Security Office to ensure operational compliance with data governance and cloud infrastructure security standards.
  • Evaluate and provide PoCs for new software and tools.
  • Drive innovation using cloud technologies and modern/emerging practices
  • Monitor the IT service portal for requests or reported issues, thoroughly document work in trouble tickets, and assist Help Desk and Infrastructure groups in the timely resolution of opened tickets.
  • Support Skechers' vision of growth while maintaining stability and data availability across the global enterprise.

Additional Responsibilities- 

  • Work on-call rotations or after hours to support critical systems.
  • Consult with vendors and salespeople to evaluate new products and technologies.

Job Requirements- 

  • Expert understanding of public cloud technologies and related concepts, such as: IaaS, PaaS, orchestration and automation, cloud compute and storage technologies, infrastructure-as-code, DBaaS, and enterprise cloud networking and security.
  • Experience designing and building enterprise public and hybrid cloud services in a distributed global environment using AWS and/or Azure.
  • Experience building automation and performance analysis tools.
  • Experience building with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform and CloudFormation.
  • Experience developing serverless and container-based application patterns and deployment workflows.
  • Strong understanding of cyber security principles and best practices.
  • Expertise working on and improving modern software and DevOps concepts; site reliability, continuous delivery and integration, service oriented architecture, APIs, and common software frameworks in enterprise environments.
  • Expert understanding of enterprise infrastructure design, including: networking, Windows/Linux operating system environments, application architecture, and enterprise databases.
  • Comfortable working with multiple operating systems and command line tools.
  • Hands-on experience with modern scripting languages: bash, python, etc.
  • Ability to provide support to end users in a professional manner.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to work independently, without direct supervision.
  • Excellent documentation skills, including experience creating and maintaining service diagrams.

Education and Experience-

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • 7+ years of experience working in an enterprise IT group
  • 5+ years of experience in a cloud specific role
  • AWS or Azure Solutions Architect certification preferred

The employee is occasionally required to sit for long period of times.  The employee is regularly required to lift a 35 - 40lb dress form for garment evaluations.
