Job Description

This role will help define an infrastructure architecture roadmap, perform data center reviews and plan for transformation and deliver value around our infrastructure and technology support needs.  This leader will be responsible for engaging with and managing Skechers providers and partners.  They will ensure value is being enhanced, is constantly delivered, and ensure 100% client satisfaction with the overall Information Technology Service experience. This position is based in Manhattan Beach, CA but will have data center and vendor management responsibility for Skechers globally.

The role is responsible for technical design and architecture, implementing effective performance, capacity and availability management, and disaster recovery solutions both for new systems and reviewing existing applications and making recommendations as appropriate. The role is responsible for providing resources and oversight for implementing appropriate controls, and performing regular and effective reviews of all technical aspects of the ongoing operational support activities. Finally, the role will oversee the Skechers internal database and middleware administration services team.

Candidate must have proven change and project management ability with experience on a number of IT and business projects on both internally developed and 3rd party supplied software. The role includes implementing quality standards and best practice, extensive project planning and 3rd party/client management/negotiation experience. Also, the candidate should be able to demonstrate evidence of timescale awareness, project risk control and previous project reconciliation experience.

Thought leadership:  Provide leadership in the upgrade of our legacy systems, and future roadmap of technologies relevant to the business.

Coach:  Candidate will also have real world experience managing a team in support of business computing needs.  This would include break fix, software upgrades, and system support.  The candidate must have a proven record leading a team to success through mentoring and coaching.

Operational Expert: Candidate will have real world experience in managing a large IT team and supporting an infrastructure and application environment including the following disciplines:

  • Maintenance of existing technologies to support the business.
  • Network design experience (LAN, WAN), Firewall, IDS
  • Geographical replications and content delivery
  • Multi tiered storage, (Object based storage, SSD, Cloud based, Block storage)

Subject Matter Expert:  The candidate will also have provided high level strong governance around technology.  They must be a strategic thinker who is used to dealing with wide ranging architectural challenges and also possess good customer facing skills.
