Job Description

JOB SUMMARY 

Silvaco is looking for interns to join the Photonics Group. As part of this internship, interns will develop a comprehensive set of photonic reference designs using Silvaco's  tools, covering both passive and active components. Interns will gain hands-on experience in photonic device modeling, process variation analysis, and technical documentation. Furthermore, interns will have an opportunity to pursue independent research utilizing Silvaco tools that could align with graduate research studies. We are looking for a curious, open-minded spirit. 

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES; include but not limited to: 

  • Develop and validate photonics reference designs for various passive na active photonics devices. 

  • Perform nominal simulations as well as manufacturing variation studies for each reference design, using provided GDSII files and process parameters. 

  • Assist with testing, formatting, and publication of new photonics examples based on completed reference designs. 

  • Review existing training materials and identify gaps; help produce updated collateral aligned with photonic design workflows. 

  • Work closely with Silvaco Photonics simualtion and Dev teams to better understand tool usage and achieve the objectives above. 

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIRED EXPERIENCE 

  • Junior/Senior-level undergraduate or Graduate student (MS or PhD) in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or Photonics 

  • Knowledge and coursework in photonics, electromagnetics, semiconductor device physics, 

  • Experience in semiconductor industry preferred.  

  • Experience in international and remote team building preferred. 

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS 

  • Prolonged periods of sitting and typing 

  • Clarity of vision at approximately 20 inches or less (i.e., working with small objects or reading small print), including use of computers. 

  • Ability to lift (up) to 15 pounds at times.
