Job Description
Summary of Position
The Warehouse Supervisor leads the assigned warehouse team to keep solar panel and solar cell manufacturing supplied and shipments moving safely and accurately. The role oversees receiving, storage, production replenishment, inventory transactions, finished goods handling and shipping. The supervisor is accountable for shift performance, physical inventory accuracy, timely enterprise resource planning (ERP) records and effective handoffs between shifts, working closely with Production, Quality, Planning and Logistics.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Verify receipts against purchase orders and shipping documents, including material identity, quantity, condition, lot numbers and pallet identification. Document discrepancies and coordinate resolution before inventory is released.
- Ensure receipts, transfers, production issues, returns and shipment transactions are recorded accurately and promptly in the ERP or warehouse management system. Investigate gaps between physical stock and system records.
- Maintain traceability for wafers, solar cells, panel components, work in process and finished panels using applicable lot, batch, serial and pallet identifiers. Keep ownership, inventory status and storage locations clearly identified.
- Lead cycle counts and physical inventories, investigate variances and recommend corrective actions. Submit adjustments with supporting evidence through the required approval process.
- Apply approved stock rotation, shelf life and storage requirements. Segregate damaged, returned, nonconforming and quality hold material; release or dispose of it only after authorized approval.
- Coordinate replenishment with Production and Planning to prevent material shortages. Verifying the correct material, quantity and lot are staged for each production requirement, including separate controls for wafers and cells.
- Follow approved handling and packaging methods to prevent breakage, contamination and product damage. Confirm applicable storage, chemical handling and contamination control requirements with Quality and Environmental Health and Safety (EHS).
- Coordinate dock assignments, receiving, staging and loading with Logistics and carriers. Verify product identity, panel counts, pallet counts, labels, packing lists and bills of lading before shipment release.
- Verify trailer condition, dock safety, load arrangement and securement against approved procedures. Escalate unsafe equipment or loading conditions before work proceeds.
- Maintain orderly storage locations and clear access routes. Report space constraints, excess or aging inventory, equipment needs and avoidable handling costs; support approved improvements and audit requests.
- Maintain controlled work instructions and transaction records. Implement process changes after approval, train affected employees and perform other related duties within the role and training provided.
Qualifications
Skills
- Excellent communication skills with warehouse workers, purchasing department, and outside vendors.
- Basic understanding of inventory control procedures.
- Proficient keyboarding skills.
Traits
- Extremely organized and able to work with minimum supervision.
- Ability to perform basic math calculations.
Education and/or Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent; at least 3 years of warehouse, inventory or manufacturing logistics experience, including at least 1 year leading or supervising a team.
- Practical ERP or warehouse management system experience, including inventory transactions, barcode scanning, cycle counts and reconciliation. Working proficiency with Excel and electronic records.
- Experience with receiving, production replenishment, shipping documentation and safe forklift or powered industrial truck operations. Ability to complete required site training and operator evaluations.
- Ability to prioritize changing production needs, investigate discrepancies, coach employees and communicate clear instructions and shift updates.
- Availability for the assigned schedule, including applicable night shifts, weekends and holidays, with overtime or coverage adjustments as business needs require.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to lift and move materials up to 25 pounds independently and participate in team lifts of approximately 60 pounds as required for essential production tasks.
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position or move throughout the production floor for extended periods (for the duration of the shift up to 8+ hours per shift).
- Must be able to operate, position, adjust, or move equipment, tools, or materials necessary for production processes.
- Capable of performing consistent, manual production tasks over long shifts.
- Must be able to work in typical manufacturing environmental conditions, including areas requiring PPE, exposure to noise, and temperature variation.
