Job Description
As a Production Lead Hand, you will operate your assigned section of the production line to ensure the safe and efficient production of solar panels. This includes supervising a small team of operators, placement and testing of electrical components, cleaning of finished products, and/or loading of raw materials into machines. This position will be training on our Night shift (which M-F 10pm to 6am) before transitioning to a 12 hour pitman schedule (6pm - 6am)
Qualifications
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure all operations staff are following and executing all operations and equipment safely.
- Escalate any safety concern to your Shift Supervisor immediately upon observation.
- Oversee and provide constant training and technical assistance to all operation staff ensuring they are following all work instructions and best practices.
- Report any defective/non-conforming product or behavior to your Shift Supervisor immediately upon observation.
- Perform quality control as required by the work instructions and as instructed by the production and quality leaders and staff.
- Ensure traceability of the product and its components through proper use of the Data Collection System, ensuring that the system is always active and functional.
- Check and ensure the minimum stock of raw materials in production necessary to fulfill the production schedule, refilling and ordering as required.
- Solve “first level of maintenance issues " on production equipment in collaboration with the Maintenance Technician and following all procedures.
- Work with the Maintenance Technician to resolve maintenance problems at a higher level.
- Meet with the Lead Hands and Shift Supervisors of the previous and subsequent shifts, transferring information about problems and solutions implemented during their shift.
- Inform the Shift Supervisor about issues regarding production, quality, process and/or organization of personnel or resources immediately upon observation.
- Propose to the Shift Supervisor improvements to all procedures and processes.
- Substitute for any operation staff in any area during breaks and/or absences
- Work overtime as required.
- Minimize the risk of accidents and quality issues.
- Maximize the technical knowledge and the engagement of the operations staff, the uptime of the equipment and the quality of the finished product.
- Maximize the traceability of the product.
- Achieve the production goals and improvements outlined by the Shift Supervisor
- Build the spirit of cooperation.
- Complete other tasks as directed and required.

Education and/or Experience
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Previous manufacturing/production experience required. (preferably 2+ years)
- Production supervisory experience preferred.
