We are looking for a commercially minded Key Account Manager to manage and grow a portfolio of strategic distribution customers across New Zealand. This is a high-impact role focused on driving sales growth, strengthening customer partnerships and identifying new opportunities through a combination of relationship management, commercial excellence and data-driven decision making.

Job Description

As a Key Account Manager, you will be responsible for developing and executing customer growth strategies across key national accounts. You will work closely with customers, internal stakeholders and field sales teams to increase market share, optimise product ranging, deliver promotional activity and drive profitable growth.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys combining strong relationship management with analytical thinking and modern sales tools.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute strategic account plans for key national customers.
  • Identify and deliver sales growth opportunities across existing and new product categories.
  • Analyse customer sales performance, market trends and category data to identify growth opportunities.
  • Utilise CRM systems, analytics platforms and AI-enabled tools to improve forecasting, account planning and customer engagement.
  • Develop and present business reviews, sales reports and growth recommendations to customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Coordinate cross-functional support from marketing, supply chain, customer service and technical teams.
  • Drive new product launches, customer ranging initiatives and promotional campaigns.
  • Maintain accurate customer, competitor and market intelligence records.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, health and safety requirements and commercial procedures.
  • Attend conferences and events when required (some over night travel may be required)

Qualifications

You will have proven Key Account Management experience and a track record of developing strong customer relationships while delivering commercial results.

Ideally, you will bring:

  • Key Account Management experience within hardware, building products, distribution or FMCG sectors.
  • Strong commercial and negotiation skills.
  • Experience managing national or regional retail groups.
  • A data-driven approach to sales and account management.
  • Confidence analysing sales data and translating insights into action plans.
  • Experience using CRM systems, Microsoft Excel and business reporting tools.
  • Exposure to Power BI, analytics platforms or AI-assisted sales tools would be highly regarded.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • A proactive and results-focused mindset.
