Job Description
Main Tasks
Products involvement include mortar, coating, admixtures, and grinding aids. Main responsibilities:
- Improve existing formulations in terms of performance and/or cost to meet the market needs
- Develop new products to meet market needs
- Evaluate and approve alternative raw materials for cost and/or performance purpose
- Organize and prioritize projects to meet project timeline agree by lab manager and /or TMM and/or LET
- Perform production trials for improved and new formulations after justify in lab trials
- Perform lab test with customer when is necessary
- Perform field test with customers and/or TSD personnel at site, especially on new products
- Perform plant trials for grinding aid in cement plants when necessary
- Responsible for maintaining the lab cleanliness and equipment functionality at all time
- Responsible for safety and environmental matters
- Be proactive at the interface between R&D and QC
- Back up the QC activity when necessary
- BOM Management: Ensure that Bills of Material are updated for any change to raw materials or formulations relating to manufactured products.

- To ensure EHS compliance as per Sika policy and EHS minimum requirements
- Reports any hazards immediately adhering to superior or EHS personnel
- Comply to Sika Life Saving Rule
- Participate in EHS related training
Others
- Any other tasks assigned from time to time
- To perform other job functions, deem necessary by immediate Superior / Management.
Security
- Maintain Sika information with appropriate secrecy and adhere to policies regarding confidential information
- Always maintain confidentiality of formulation
Qualifications
- Minimum bachelor’s degree in science or applied science (Chemistry) plus relevant laboratory experience.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in research and development, with a focus on cementitious materials, concrete technology, or related areas.
- Patient, hardworking, analytical mind, initiative, good interpersonal skill, willing to travel to sites, results oriented, strong planning, problem solving;
- Must be able to communicate well in both spoken and written English and Bahasa Malaysia
- Mature, highly motivated with strong inter-personal, leadership and management skills; and
- Train and development Lab team and others where applicable.
- Computer literate (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
