Job Description
As part of Sika Informationssysteme AG, our recently created team (Data & AI) has the primary responsibility for establishing, developing, and maintaining the new Data and Artificial Intelligence (AI) platforms. This team plays a key role in ensuring that these platforms are secure, scalable, and aligned with the organization’s strategic objectives, enabling efficient and advanced use of Data and AI capabilities.
For our motivated team, we are looking for a Platform Engineer in Zürich (Switzerland). This position will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the Azure Databricks platform and automating infrastructure provisioning using Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) & DevOps tools. The role involves optimizing Databricks environments for data processing, analytics, and AI workloads while ensuring security, performance, and cost efficiency. Additionally, the Platform Engineer will play a key role in managing CI/CD pipelines, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and enhancing platform capabilities to support Sika’s companies and functions.
• Manage and optimize Databricks environments for high-performance data processing, analytics, and AI workloads.
• Develop and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) using Terraform and other automation tools to ensure consistent and scalable infrastructure deployment.
• Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines to automate platform deployments, configurations, and testing.
• Optimize Databricks performance and cost-efficiency, ensuring effective resource utilization.
• Integrate Databricks with other Azure services such as Data Factory, Synapse, and other enterprise data solutions.
• Ensure security and compliance by implementing access controls, encryption, and governance best practices within Databricks.
• Collaborate with data engineers, data scientists, and IT teams to enhance the platform’s capabilities and support business use cases.
• Maintain documentation for infrastructure configurations, best practices, and operational procedures.
• Support training and knowledge sharing on Databricks, Terraform, and related technologies within the team.
Qualifications
• Proven experience as a Platform Engineer, Databricks Engineer, or Infrastructure Engineer working with Azure and Databricks.
• Strong expertise in Databricks administration and optimization for large-scale data processing and analytics.
• Hands-on experience with Terraform and Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) for managing cloud infrastructure.
• Deep understanding of CI/CD processes, automation frameworks, and DevOps principles.
• Familiarity with data processing frameworks and best practices for performance tuning.
• Experience with Azure services such as Azure Data Factory, Key Vault, and other data-related components.
• Knowledge of security best practices, including role-based access control (RBAC), data encryption, and compliance in cloud environments.
• Problem-solving mindset with a focus on automation, efficiency, and reliability.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
• Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect, Databricks Certified Associate/Professional, or similar are a plus.
