$101,500 - $115,00
Summary:
The Supplier Development Lead plays a critical role in ensuring the reliability and scalability of our supply base. This position is responsible for evaluating supplier readiness, leading resourcing initiatives, and supporting quality processes to maintain operational continuity and reduce supply chain disruptions. Acting as a strategic bridge between Procurement, Quality, Engineering, and Operations, the Supplier Development Lead will drive both immediate executional activities and long-term supplier capability development.
Essential Functions:
- Conduct on-site and remote evaluations of supplier equipment, capacity, and technical readiness.
- Identify gaps in supplier capabilities and recommend corrective actions.
- Lead supplier resourcing projects to ensure continuity of supply and mitigate delivery risks.
- Support dual sourcing strategies to reduce dependency on single suppliers.
- Facilitate APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) and FAI (First Article Inspection) activities during supplier transitions and onboarding.
- Ensure suppliers meet quality gate requirements for new and existing parts.
- Act as a liaison between Procurement, Quality, Engineering, and Operations to ensure supplier decisions are technically sound and operationally viable.
- Align supplier capabilities with product specifications and production requirements.
- Maintain supplier capability matrices and contribute to vendor scorecard development.
- Monitor supplier performance and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Develop and maintain a long-term roadmap for supplier capability growth.
- Align supplier development efforts with future product launches and volume expansion plans.
- Proactively identify and resolve supply chain risks to minimize disruptions.
- Improve supplier responsiveness and accountability through structured engagement.
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Supply Chain Management, Manufacturing, or a related technical field is required.
- Formal training or certification in Quality Systems, Lean Manufacturing, APQP, or Supplier Auditing is a plus.
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in supplier development, manufacturing engineering, sourcing, or supply chain operations.
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, supplier audits, and quality systems (e.g., APQP, FAI, ISO standards).
- Demonstrated success in leading cross-functional projects involving Procurement, Quality, and Engineering.
- Experience with supplier transitions, dual sourcing, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Proficiency in analyzing supplier performance data and driving corrective action plans.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally for supplier assessments and project execution.
- Certifications in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Quality Auditing are a plus.
