Job Description
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
Sia Partners is seeking a talented and enthusiastic Senior Manager or Manager to work with the head of the US Insurance Practice to build and develop the Actuarial practice. You will have the opportunity to help insurance organizations transform their risk, capital, finance and pricing operations and ultimately enhance the client’s top and bottom lines. As a member of the Insurance Practice, you will be based in New York and work with the largest insurance companies in the US.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead major projects and manage relationships with flagship and key accounts
Summarize and presents findings to project managers and clients
Collaborate with engagement team to deliver high-quality work products
Apply strategic and critical thinking to develop recommendations that address client challenges
Lead business development and proposal efforts
Manage team of resources to ensure deliverables are provided on time
Provide guidance and mentoring to junior team
Drive sales efforts and lead internal corporate initiatives
Collaborate with stakeholders and work on strategic projects across pricing, finance, risk and ALM departments
Qualifications
SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES FOR SUCCESS
Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, mathematics, or related field
Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) or similar designation, or an Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA); additional professional qualification is a plus (e.g., FRM, CFA)
A strong understanding of actuarial models for pricing, reserving and capital requirements estimates, in accordance with Statutory and US GAAP Accounting frameworks
Experience in Life product development or financial reporting, with knowledge of product characteristics, designs, and risks
Experience in Moody’s Analytics AXIS and knowledge of IFRS 17 standard is a strong plus, as well as experience with cash flow modelling, MCEV
Actuarial and financial items such as reserves, assets and capital requirements
VBA coding skills to automate calculations and processes
Strong knowledge about financial and pricing models, and assets and liabilities to perform audits and analysis of financial results
Significant technical experience and expertise with US valuation systems
Good communication skills to interact with business leaders and technology teams to understand calculations and confirm proper implementation
Sound knowledge of insurance life and retirement products as well as pricing, finance, risk and ALM activities
Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
Strong process and organizational skills
