The Solution Architect (SA) is accountable to create solutions, which support current and foreseeable changes due to new technical or business requirements and support reuse within and by other LOBs.
The solutions are functionality appropriate, technically sound and well integrated. The SA develops the solution architecture by collaborating with Business units, Architecture, Development, Security and Operations and provides value-added, professional advice to the Lead Solution Architect, Senior management team, and business partners. The SA is accountable to ensure proposed solution architectures are consistent with Enterprise/Line of Business (LOB)-wide initiatives and aligns with the roadmaps established by Enterprise Architecture and LOB.


Key responsibilities

  • Creates and maintains end to end solution architecture for off-the-shelf and in-house build applications
  • Ensure alignment of assigned projects with Enterprise Architecture guidelines and business requirements;
  • Ensure solution compliance of non-functional requirements (Security, High Availability, Performance, Management, Reliability, Scalability, Backup, etc.) to IT Ops standards;
  • Ensures sound and robust architecture and provides sufficient guidance for the successful implementation of solutions to mitigate any negative impact on Technology and Enterprise budgets.5. Work across the solution group to evaluate emerging technologies, and drive the evolution of current technologies, defining a roadmap, which increases the value of technology to the business, while collaborating with architects across the enterprise to accelerate learning
  • Participates in the system specification review process to ensure system requirements can be translated into valid software architecture.
  • Provides technical leadership and consultation to development teams related to detailed design. Mentor scrum teams with best architecture patterns, approaches, and designs
  • Communicate architecture decision and key solutions impacts to project stakeholders;
  • Identifies risks or issues with technology solution & design which may impact realization of project benefits and provides guidance and support to stakeholders in making good decisions to proactively resolve or mitigate potential risks/delays to the project.
  • Lead RFP technical requirements, including preparation and vendor’s response evaluation;
  • Lead or active participate on projects cost evaluation. Provides input into the preparation of business case.
  • Lead selected vendor and internal Subject Matter experts in designing target solutions
  • Identify project risks and impacts, provide recommendation to mitigate risks and active participate on project overall risk mitigation strategy;
  • Work in close partnership with Project Managers, Business Analyst, Enterprise Architect, Business Relation Manager (BRM), Security and IT-Operations
  • Identifies and researches relevant technologies, performs Proof of Concepts / Prototypes, and recommends applications of such technologies to future product architectures.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • At least 7 years of proven experience in leading technology teams with experience in off-the-shelf and in-house developed application technologies. Focus on CRM, SharePoint, ERP, HCM.
  • Has 5-10 years’ experience in solution architecture and design, in a financial services and banking industry, including tools and techniques in developing solution architecture artefacts.
  • Possesses extensive practical experience in strategic planning, platform design and development and/or business partner solution delivery and/or client solution delivery.
  • 3-5 years of application development experience
  • Demonstrates expert knowledge of design and analysis methodology and application development processes from an industry perspective.
  • Has expert knowledge in the techniques that go into producing designs of complex systems, including requirements discovery and analysis, formulation of solution context, identification of solution alternatives and their assessment, technology selection, and design configuration. Specific knowledge required, but not limited to: CRM, ERP, Loan accounting systems.
  • Demonstrated experience and understanding of technologies related to: Channel application development, Application integration, Core applications running on distributed and mainframe environments
  • Good understands the strategic technical direction of: Microservices Architecture; Cloud; Middleware; Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment; Testing; Systems Management; Enterprise Data & Access Layers
  • Experience with technology product evaluation, selection, acquisition and deployment processes;
  • Possesses an expert ability to manage multiple projects high in complexity and of strategic importance;
  • Effective Team Leader (ability to lead multi-disciplinary team on meeting project milestones);
  • Strong analytical skills (ability to propose alternatives when functional requirements conflict)
  • Possesses expert bilingual (English/French) communication skills, both written and verbal with ability to convey information to different levels of the organization;
  • Possesses advanced knowledge of Solution and Enterprise Architecture frameworks, methodologies and tools. Architecture certifications such as TOGAF a plus.
