Job Description
Core Qualifications
- Engage with stakeholders to clarify requirements, define success metrics, and translate business needs into technical deliverables.
- Design robust, well-documented solutions with clear handover plans for client teams.
- Own project milestones, communicate status/risks, and deliver on time and within scope.
- Uphold data quality, security, privacy, and compliance standards (e.g., GDPR/CCPA).
- Write maintainable code, follow version control and CI/CD practices, and contribute to documentation.
Data Engineering
- Design, build, and optimize data pipelines (batch/streaming) and ELT/ETL workflows.
- Model data (e.g., Lakehouse, star/snowflake schemas) and manage data storage solutions.
- Develop and operationalize data ingestion using tools such as dbt, Airflow, Kafka, and cloud-native services.
- Implement data governance and lineage; monitor reliability, performance, and cost.
- Deploy infrastructure as code and productionize solutions on cloud platforms.
Data Science and Machine Learning
- Frame analytical/ML problems, develop features, and build models (predictive, NLP, forecasting, optimization).
- Evaluate models with rigorous experimentation; implement MLOps for deployment, monitoring, and retraining.
- Communicate insights with clear narratives and visualizations
- Ensure model fairness, interpretability, and responsible AI practices as appropriate.
Data Analytics and BI
- Transform data into actionable insights; build dashboards, semantic models, and self-serve datasets.
- Define metrics and KPIs; ensure consistency and data quality across sources.
- Conduct exploratory analysis, A/B testing design/analysis, and cohort/segmentation studies.
- Enable adoption through stakeholder training and clear documentation.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience (typically 3+ years) in one or more areas: Data Engineering, Data Science/Machine Learning, Data Analytics/Business intelligence or Generative AI
- Advanced SQL plus proficiency in at least one: Python or R. Strong command of Git and collaborative workflows.
- Hands-on experience with modern data stacks
- Ability to scope work, estimate effort, and deliver independently in a client-facing setting.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain complex topics to non-technical audiences.
Preferred Qualifications
- AWS, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure certification
- Experience with multiple client environments, rapid onboarding to unfamiliar codebases, and writing robust handover docs.
- Successfully completed multiple data projects
- Production experience with:
- Data engineering: Spark, Databricks, Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, Synapse, Airflow, dbt, Kafka, Fivetran/Matillion, Terraform.
- ML/AI: scikit-learn, XGBoost, TensorFlow, PyTorch, MLflow, SageMaker, Vertex AI, Azure ML, feature stores.
- Analytics/BI: Power BI, Tableau, Looker, LookML, semantic modeling, DAX/MDX.
- DevOps: Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, monitoring/observability.
- Knowledge of data governance, privacy, and quality frameworks; familiarity with GDPR/CCPA, SOC 2, HIPAA (as applicable).
- Bachelor’s degree required.

Compensation range is between $71,000-$102,000 annually commensurate with experience and qualifications

Office Workplace Guidelines
Sia is committed to providing a flexible workplace environment that supports client, business, and market needs. Consultants located in our primary market office locations—New York City, Charlotte, Seattle, and San Francisco—are expected to live within a reasonable commuting distance and attend the office at least three days per week. For Consultants outside of our primary markets, we can offer more flexible in-person requirements in accordance with your location.
