Job Description

Shopify’s Technology Experience team supports our 7000+ employees globally with all things technology related. As a Senior IT Specialist on this team, you will be a key player in the implementation of new third-party systems while also working on the acceleration and maintenance of existing systems that support and manage our fleet of devices. Our team is dedicated to making technology better for everyone internally at Shopify through being constant learners about emerging technology.

In this role, you’ll play an important part in building the future for our tooling while working with several internal teams to accomplish it. We are looking for someone who is an active member of the IT community, who enjoys keeping up to date on the newest technology and exploring creative ways of using this technology in our ecosystem. We are looking for someone to develop and champion device management solutions for Apple, Windows, ChromeOS and Android devices here at Shopify.

Here’s what you can expect from the role - an opportunity to work on:

  • Apple devices using JAMF Pro for device management

OR

  • Windows, ChromeOS and Android devices 

 

You’ll be working on things like:

  • Building creative and technical solutions for managing Apple, Windows, ChromeOS and Android devices

  • Mentoring and working alongside our IT Team on device management priorities

  • Working closely with stakeholders and contributing teams such as Continuous Security and Legal

  • Collaborating with peers to write, review and provide feedback on technical design proposals

  • Writing release plans and end user documentation to support our growing organization

  • Actively looking for opportunities to automate tasks to increase team efficiency

Qualifications

You will need experience with:

  • Implementing and using MDM solutions to manage Apple and ChromeOS devices at a large scale 

  • Working in-depth with the macOS, iOS, ChromeOS and at times Windows platforms

  • Scripting with languages like Python, BASH, etc., including automation via API calls to various services

  • Using Git and Github

  • Researching, planning and implementing new technologies organization-wide

  • Championing new projects and working autonomously as needed

  • Working remotely, while maintaining collaboration with multiple teams and stakeholders to ship projects

  • Prioritizing tasks based on impact on the users and company

It’d be great if you had:

  • Knowledge of Google Workspace

  • Experience with Ruby on Rails or other programming languages

  • Experience with client management environments such as: Chef, Puppet or Munki

  • Experience with Okta or similar IDP
