Job Description
We are looking for an On-Farm Water Management Specialist (Ukraine nationals only) who will support us on the USAID funded Harvest Activity Program in Ukraine.
This Activity aims to enable supported male and female grain and oilseed farmers, including those from marginalized and underserved groups, to return production and income for target commodities to at least pre-war levels while improving production efficiency and profitability and will position farmers to market their crops more successfully and profitably in the war-affected context. The Activity will focus specifically on the following target commodities, barley, corn, soybean, sunflower, and wheat.
Qualifications
•Minimum educational requirement of a qualified engineer, preferably irrigation engineer, agricultural engineer or civil engineer.
•Demonstrable experience in the design and supervision of secondary and tertiary canal irrigation (including at farm level) rehabilitation and upgrading works on projects funded by USAID, EU, World Bank, ADB or other international donors.
•Experience with on-farm water management techniques such as land levelling and improved agricultural techniques.
•At least 10 years of experience with on-farm water management in irrigation schemes in developing countries and the US.
•Demonstrable communication, reporting, creative problem solving, and management skills.
•Prior experience working in post-conflict settings with similar conditions to Ukraine.
•Prior experience with rehabilitating Soviet era irrigation schemes a plus.
