Job Description

ServiceNow is reshaping how the world's largest enterprises run, and the financial story behind that transformation is as compelling as the technology itself. We are looking for an exceptional Senior Director of Executive Communications to serve as a trusted strategic advisor, thought partner, and master storyteller to ServiceNow's President and Chief Financial Officer.

This is not a traditional finance communications role. You will operate at the intersection of financial strategy, corporate narrative, and market credibility, translating complex financial performance, capital allocation philosophy, and long-range corporate strategy into clear, compelling stories that resonate with investors, analysts, employees, customers, and the broader market.

The ideal candidate is a seasoned communications leader with a passion for storytelling and a track record of building trust, loyalty, and advocacy for executive leaders and their organizations. You are a quick and creative thinker who excels at managing competing priorities, building cross-functional relationships, and delivering work that is inspiring, modern, and deeply connected to its audience.

You will be an embedded, trusted member of the President and CFO's extended leadership team, working in close partnership with investor relations, public relations, content and thought leadership, social media, employee communications, FP&A, Legal, and Brand to ensure a unified and authoritative voice across various channels. You’re the glue that holds it all together.

What You Will Do:

Strategic Communications Leadership

  • Serve as the primary strategic communications advisor to the President and CFO  — shaping external voice, narrative frameworks, and integrated communications strategy across financial and strategic audiences.
  • Build and lead a holistic, 360-degree executive communications framework for the President and CFO, encompassing internal and external programs and corporate strategy moments.
  • Develop and continuously evolve differentiated narratives around ServiceNow's financial performance, capital strategy, long-range plan, and corporate strategy that reinforce market positioning and investor confidence.
  • Understand the communications landscape across key audiences, regularly evolving materials to reflect changes in business priorities, supporting narratives, and the external environment.
  • Advise on speaking strategy and venue selection to ensure the President and CFO is engaging in the right settings, at the right moments, with the right message.
  • Develop and manage a robust annual communications calendar aligned to earnings cycles, investor events, strategic planning milestones, and industry moments.
  • Establish and design processes to ensure timely execution, governance, and publication of all content.
  • Measure and report quarterly metrics on program performance and executive visibility.

Content Creation & Storytelling

  • Craft high-quality executive-level work products, including media and analyst commentary, keynote scripts, speeches, op-eds, LinkedIn content, bylines, and video.
  • Design and produce storytelling concepts that bring ServiceNow's financial strength and corporate strategy to life.
  • Partner with customer advocacy on customer narrative development for President and CFO.
  • Prepare executives for high-stakes engagements with rigorous rehearsal, messaging frameworks, scripts, storyboards, and briefing materials.
  • Project manage the full content and production workflow, including design, legal clearances, social amplification plans, and agency deliverables.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Governance

  • Partner closely with investor relations to ensure tight alignment between financial messaging and public disclosures, operating with full fluency in regulatory and public company communications protocols.
  • Work closely with Finance and Strategy organization leaders to ensure strong message alignment, a shared calendar of upcoming events, social activations, and content plans.
  • Serve as a senior resource across the Global Communications team to ensure message alignment and consistency across all audiences, including customers, partners, investors, media and employees.
  • Manage communications agencies and contractors across a variety of projects and initiatives, ensuring quality and consistency.
  • Set a high bar for strategic thinking, writing quality, and execution discipline. Help build a culture of accountability, creativity, and continuous learning within the function.

Qualifications

What You Bring:

  • 12+ years in corporate communications, public relations, marketing, consulting, or executive communications with at least 5 years supporting C-suite executives, preferably a CFO or senior finance leader, in a technology or high-growth company.
  • Demonstrated experience advising executives on financial narrative, external positioning, and public market communications at the highest levels.
  • Experience building and executing multi-functional communications strategies across investor, analyst, media, social, and event channels.
  • Experience crafting executive-level thought leadership and social strategies aligned to external visibility programs.
  • Strong track record in a matrixed, hypergrowth technology company with multiple competing stakeholders and rapid change.

Skills & Attributes

  • Exceptional messaging and writing skills; rigorous attention to detail and accuracy across all communications deliverables.
  • Strong executive presence and the gravitas to operate as a peer and trusted advisor to the most senior leaders in the company.
  • Deep understanding of public company disclosure standards and the judgment to navigate them under pressure.
  • Self-starter with the ability to think creatively, manage through ambiguity, and drive strong work-back plans designed to deliver measurable outcomes.
  • Outstanding collaborator who builds trust quickly across functions, geographies, and levels of the organization.
  • Ability to manage multiple high-priority workstreams simultaneously in a fast-paced, fast-changing environment.
  • BS/BA degree required in marketing, communications, or related field.
