About the team:

At Platform Security Core and particularly Access Controls team, you will be helping us improve the security, performance, reliability, scalability, and feature set of our Platform Authorization Frameworks (like RBAC, ABAC, Data Filters etc). Our team is responsible for validating and enforcing the access controls for every incoming transaction within the platform.

We are a group of people that are passionate, self-directed and enjoy working on security controls/protocols with a security first mindset. We work in a very collaborative environment that empowers and enables you to succeed in your role.

Along with the ability to work on Access Controls features, you get to develop and nurture forensic abilities to craft detailed Root Cause Analysis and mitigation plans for issues introduced by the security layer of the platform. You will share your experience and skills with the team and learn from them in return.

What you get to do in this role:   

  • Manage product development activities and oversee end-to-end engineering deliverables. 
  • Manage team of engineers, providing technical guidance, feedback, and career development. 
  • Work with product management, design, support, quality, and other dev teams to create high-quality solutions. 
  • Manage daily activities of the end-to-end development team, ensuring engineering excellence, code quality, and delivery velocity. 
  • Drive continuous improvement and innovation initiatives including designing testing strategies, driving test automation to enhance reliability, performance, and scalability of products and services. 
  • Solve difficult and sometimes ambiguous problems by fostering collaboration and applying structured decision-making. 
  • Manage departmental resources, staffing, mentoring, and enhance and maintain a best-of-class engineering and quality team. 
  • Partner with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to align on priorities, communicate issues, and utilize best practices. 

To be successful in this role you have:

  • Passion for JavaScript (backend) and the Web as a platform, reusability, and componentization
  • Experience with data structures, algorithms, object-oriented design, design patterns, and performance/scale considerations
  • Analytical and design skills
  • Ability to manage projects with material technical risk at a team level
  • Added skills that will be helpful: One or more of - SaaS experience at scale, AI workloads, RBAC or related solutions, cloud security and/or key mgmt / certificate mgmt.
  • Have managed a high performing team of engineers that owns both development and quality.

Qualifications

  • Experience in leveraging or critical thinking about how to integrate AI into work processes, decision-making, or problem-solving. This may include using AI-powered tools, automating workflows, analyzing AI-driven insights, or exploring AI's potential impact on the function or industry.
  • Experience In using AI Productivity tools such as Windsurf, Cursor, etc is a plus or nice to have.
  •  6+ years of experience in software product engineering relevant to ServiceNow technologies and/or platform and at least 5+ years of experience in a management position for technical teams 
  • Experience with open-source tools and agile development environments
  • Strong background in modern software engineering practices and technologies relevant to large-scale enterprise products. 
  • Fluency in one or more relevant programming languages (Java, C++, Ruby, Shell, JavaScript, or similar). 
  • Experience with open-source tools, automation frameworks, and agile development environments. 
  • Proven ability to design and implement effective testing strategies, including automation and performance testing. 
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills with the ability to mentor and grow high-performing teams. 
  • Experience in managing cross-functional teams with combined engineering and quality responsibilities. 
  • An understanding of broad concepts and experience using those concepts to understand and develop solutions for problems
  • Ability to execute a project based on our priorities, context, risks and desired outcomes

 

 

FD21

For positions in this location, we offer a base pay of $163,600 - $286,300, plus equity (when applicable), variable/incentive compensation and benefits. Sales positions generally offer a competitive On Target Earnings (OTE) incentive compensation structure. Please note that the base pay shown is a guideline, and individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies, and work location. We also offer health plans, including flexible spending accounts, a 401(k) Plan with company match, ESPP, matching donations, a flexible time away plan and family leave programs. Compensation is based on the geographic location in which the role is located and is subject to change based on work location.
