Job Description

ServiceNow is seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented patent paralegal to assist our Patent Team with managing our global patent portfolio, including interfacing with outside counsel, monitoring the status of patent filings around the world, maintaining internal and external patent portfolio management tools, and supporting the generation of data regarding our global patent portfolio.  The candidate should possess significant experience with IP filing and patent prosecution processes/procedures and be able to work independently while being a collaborative team player.

Patent Paralegal Responsibilities:

  • Collaborating with attorneys, liaisons, foreign associates, and inventors, as necessary, in relation to new patent filings and ongoing patent prosecution.
  • Extracting relevant patent information from official USPTO databases.
  • Assisting the Patent Team by tracking deadlines and resolving noted discrepancies, errors, and omissions.
  • Updating and maintaining ServiceNow patent records and patent portfolio management tools.
  • Performing IP research and compiling data relating to ServiceNow’s patent portfolio.
  • Assisting with formal patent assignments and declarations.
  • Managing patent awards and other recognitions for inventors
  • Providing project related support to the Patent Team.

 

Qualifications

Patent Paralegal Requirements:

  • A bachelor's degree or a post-secondary program with law-related coursework.
  • State-approved accredited paralegal certification.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in patent docketing and prosecution administration.
  • Proficiency in legal terminology and electronic databases, including the USPTO's Trademark Electronic Search System (TESS) and patent management tools.
  • Experience working with an IP management system (IPMS), including managing IP records, generating docket reports, and tracking deadlines.
  • Extensive knowledge of patent filing and review.
  • Ability to collaborate with others and work independently.
