Job Description

Team:

Our goal is to build a robust, high-performing, and scalable data platform that can support transactional, analytical, and various other workloads our customers deploy. Our data platform engineering team is responsible for building the core engines, persistence layer, and tools supporting these use cases. This includes developing in-memory and on-disk data structures and algorithms, row/columnar stores, and caches.  Given the ServiceNow platform footprint, even the smallest optimization can have a dramatic impact on our customers and our bottom line.

We need an experienced Sr. SDET who can help us ensure a high-quality release, assist engineers in creating robust tests, and work across contributing teams to help define and test migrating from the existing database to the new database this team is building.  We are based upon the Postgres database engine, with additional plug-in optimizations from the company we acquired in August 2021, Swarm64.  The team builds the product in C and C++, and your familiarity with these languages, this database, and Linux will be required for success.

What you get to do in this role:

  • Collaborate with a team of 15+ dedicated database-internals engineers.
  • Review engineer test plans, advise the team on best practices, and test design.
  • Create comprehensive test plans; execute and automate them.
  • Help improve CI/CD pipeline development, and improve testing infrastructure.
  • Partner with core and cross-functional teams to create the next-generation database engine powering ServiceNow!

To be successful in this role you have:

  • The team builds the product in C and C++, and your familiarity with these languages, this database, and Linux will be required for success.
  • Solid understanding and experience with agile software development methodologies
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with an aptitude for learning new technologies.
  • Strong preference for an SDET working with database engine internals development efforts.

Nice to have:

  • Experience with external integrations such as Google, AWS, Azure, and IBM Cloud services.

Qualifications

  • 6+ years of experience with quality assurance.
  • Comprehension of C, C++, and Go compiled languages
  • Knowledge of Python and Bash
  • 6+ years of industry experience in quality assurance within a scrum team of 2 SDETs and 10+ development engineers
  • Experience with SQL, preferably PostgreSQL
