Job Description

Serpa Packaging Solutions is seeking an experienced Electrical / Controls Engineer leader to join our Electrical Engineering team. As an Electrical Controls Engineer, you'll take lead in the complete electrical design and programming of custom packaging automation systems for customers, which are some of the largest Fortune 1000 manufacturers in the nation. Programming can include the integration of auxiliary equipment, such as robotics, vision systems, labelers and other devices. The ideal candidate must have solid programming and troubleshooting skills, ability to follow company standards and exercise good judgment, passion to complete work accurately and meet project deadlines under minimal supervision, and leadership to work in a dynamic, team-oriented environment.

Your Tasks

  • Review and implement customer requirement specifications
  • Lead technical direction to complete electrical equipment and programming specifications for packaging machine orders
  • Design electrical and pneumatic schematics, compile purchased parts lists;
  • PLC/HMI software design
  • Equipment commissioning and debugging
  • Work with customers to validate the equipment
  • Work closely with project teams and participate in activities related to the development of new projects
  • Work with sales for bids and proposals, electrical cost estimating, as well as developing new machine concepts
  • Travel to customer facilities for site installations and service (10-15%)

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in Controls Systems
  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering, a related field, or a combination of education and/or experience in machine controls automation
  • Must have exposure to electrical engineering design principles and methodologies
  • PLC & HMI programming experience
  • Electrical hardware and CAD schematic design experience
  • Sensor integration experience desired
  • Servo motion control and VFD motion control experience desired
  • Mechanical aptitude and self-motivated
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to perform job duties that require standing, kneeling, crouching, twisting upper body, working in cramped spaces.
  • Physical effort that may include the lifting of supplies and materials that weigh up to 20 pounds.
