Job Description

Serpa Packaging Solutions is searching for a dynamic Cost Estimator to join our team! As a Cost Estimator, you will interact with our Regional Sales Managers, Application Engineers, Engineering & the Accounting department, ensuring all sales quotes are accurately priced and submitted in a timely fashion.  In this role, your interpersonal communication style is critical to your daily success, as you will be expected to communicate easily and collaborate effectively within a cross-functional team environment.  Additionally, there are some key responsibilities that require you to be successful, working in an autonomous environment. A self-starter and problem-solver, with an eye for detail, are an absolute must have to succeed in this position.

Responsibilities:

 Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Price new machine concepts and new assemblies for change orders
  • Prepare work to be estimated by gathering proposals, specifications, and related documents
  • Compute costs by identifying and analyzing labor, material, and time requirements by studying proposals, specifications and related documents
  • Resolve discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information
  • Present prepared cost estimate by assembling and displaying numerical and descriptive information
  • Maintain cost database by entering and backing up data
  • Develop and maintain an effective partnership and communication relationship with departments involved for completing customer User Requirement Specifications (includes Sales and Applications, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering, and Project Management).
  • Effectively collect and communicate findings to appropriate departments.
  • Input data into URS review spreadsheets and distribute to appropriate departments for review.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Additional administrative duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Two years of experience in sales/project cost estimating
  • Strong computer skills and knowledge of MS Office applications Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Ability to organize and manage time effectively while prioritizing workload
  • Must be dependable and confidential
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to manage relations with customers and company personnel
  • Ability to cope with multiple projects, priorities, deadlines and frequent interruptions
  • Work well under pressure and meet deadlines

 Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform job duties that require standing, kneeling, crouching, twisting upper body, working in cramped spaces
  • Ability to lift light weight supplies and materials (up to 25 pounds)
