Job Description

Serpa Packaging Solutions is searching for a Field Service Technician leader to join our Service team! As a Field Service Technician, you’ll be tasked with taking lead in performing outstanding electrical controls and mechanical troubleshooting and repairs on Serpa packaging equipment machinery out in the field for customers. Electrical controls support and troubleshooting includes logic and motion programming. You'll utilize your skills, passion, and determination to ensure that customer orders are supported with outstanding service. Additional compensation incentives are offered for certain service trips. The option to work remotely is being offered as long as residing within one of the following states: Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Georgia, Minnesota, California, Illinois, Virginia, New York, or New Jersey.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Travel to customer sites and interact with customers to discuss equipment issues
  • Read and interpret mechanical assembly drawings, layout drawings, electrical schematics, and Bills of Material
  • Troubleshoot and perform electrical and mechanical repairs to ensure proper operation
  • Troubleshoot and modify PLC, HMI, and servo code independently and under direction of Engineering as needed
  • Escalate difficult technical problems by seeking timely advice or assistance
  • Support established company standards relating to controls and service
  • Make recommendations for improving the service, reliability, and performance of our equipment
  • Participate in Factory Acceptance Testing as needed
  • Provide guidance to customer staff on equipment resolution as needed
  • Ensure overall customer satisfaction

Qualifications

  • Experience and solid skills with electrical and mechanical servicing/repairing of industrial automation machinery, including PLC, HMI, and Motion Control work
  • Experience working with Allen Bradley equipment and software highly desired
  • Ability to travel within the United States and internationally (primarily within the United States)
  • Great customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to exercise good judgment independently and under direction
  • Ability to complete work accurately and timely under minimal supervision
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
