Job Description

Serpa Packaging Solutions is seeking an experienced Production Management leader to join our team! As the Assembly Production Manager, you will lead, train, and direct day-to-day plant operations & staff for the Assembly department and process of each custom packaging machine order. You will monitor and direct the execution of each stage in a project “life cycle”, as well as work closely with Engineering and Project Management teams to coordinate and develop the project plan and schedules.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Supervise and provide instruction to assembly department staff responsible for the mechanical and electrical assembly of company packaging machines.
  • Proper personnel management of assembly department, which includes interviewing, hiring, promotions, disciplining, and termination.
  • Collaborate with Debug Technician Supervisor and staff regarding debugging issues and solutions.
  • Organize production activities to support cost reduction targets, on-time, and quality shipment of all Serpa Packaging Equipment to exceed customer expectations.
  • Participate in evaluation of new customer/business opportunities; support concurrent engineering activities to drive New Business growth.
  • Maintain required quality levels and adhere to Serpa’s accepted manufacturing standards.
  • Support root cause analysis of quality issues. Take responsibility for implementing corrective actions.
  • Implement processes and procedures to improve production efficiency.
  • Ensure the completion of project milestones within deadlines and budgets.
  • Develop a strong relationship with Serpa Packaging customers through customer service, knowledge of equipment, and good communication skills.
  • Determine customer needs, as well as predetermination of any needs that the project team may have throughout all phases of the project “life cycle”.
  • Develop working relationships and cross-functional communication skills to disseminate pertinent information: face-to-face, in writing, or via telephone/email.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of maintenance or production supervising/management/scheduling experience
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment
  • Mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills desired. Emphasis on mechanical skills
  • Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational & planning, and time management skills
  • Ability to lead and work proactively on the floor with production and maintenance teams
  • Effective verbal & written communication/negotiation skills
  • Understanding of budget control
  • Ability to perform job duties that may require standing, kneeling, crouching, twisting upper body, working in cramped spaces, and moving up to 25 pounds.
