Serpa Packaging Solutions is seeking a passionate Electrical Controls Engineer to join our Electrical Engineering team! As the Electrical Controls Engineer, you will take lead in the complete electrical design and programming of custom packaging automation machinery systems that meet customer requirements. Programming can include the integration of auxiliary equipment, such as robotics, vision systems, labelers and other devices. The ideal candidate must have solid programming and troubleshooting skills, ability to follow company standards and exercise good judgment, passion to complete work accurately and meet project deadlines under minimal supervision, and leadership to work in a dynamic, team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

• Review and implement customer requirement specifications
• Lead technical direction to complete electrical equipment and programming specifications for packaging machine orders
• Design electrical and pneumatic schematics, compile purchased parts lists;
• PLC/HMI programming and Software debugging
• Assist with equipment commissioning and debugging
• Work with customers to validate the equipment
• Work closely with project teams and participate in activities related to the development of new projects
• Work with sales for bids and proposals, as well as developing new machine concepts
• Flexibility to travel to customer facilities for site installations and service (10 - 15%)

• B.S. in Electrical Engineering, a related field, or a combination of education and/or experience in machine controls automation
• Knowledgeable of electrical engineering design principles and methodologies
• Programming skills & knowledge (Ladder Logic experience desired)
• PLC & HMI programming experience desired, but not required (FactoryTalk View, Studio 5000, RS Logix, general Allen Bradley equipment & software)
• Electrical hardware and CAD schematic design experience desired, but not required (AutoCAD experience desired, but not required)
• Sensor integration experience desired, but not required.
• Mechanical aptitude and a self-starter
• Solid written and oral communication skills
