Job Description

 

Purpose of Role

The Test Technician is responsible for executing test procedures to verify product performance, reliability, and compliance with specifications. This role supports engineering and quality teams by performing hands-on testing, documenting results, troubleshooting failures, and maintaining test equipment throughout the product lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the testing and verification of products, assemblies, and components in line with defined test plans and procedures
  • Set up, operate, and maintain test equipment and rigs under supervision
  • Execute routine functional, performance, and reliability tests and accurately record results
  • Assist in identifying test issues, anomalies, or failures and report findings clearly to engineers
  • Maintain accurate test documentation, logs, and reports
  • Ensure test activities comply with quality, safety, and company standards
  • Support engineers with prototype builds, test preparation, and continuous improvement activities
  • Help maintain a clean, organised, and safe test environment
  • Participate in training and development to build technical skills and product knowledge

Qualifications

Key Requirements

  • Engineering-related qualification (e.g. Engineering, Mechatronics, Electrical, Mechanical, or similar) at diploma, apprenticeship, or degree level
  • Strong interest in testing, validation, and hands-on engineering work
  • Basic understanding of engineering principles and technical drawings
  • Comfortable working with tools, equipment, and computers
  • Good attention to detail with the ability to follow procedures accurately
  • Willingness to learn, ask questions, and develop new technical skills
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team
  • A proactive and reliable attitude with a strong focus on safety and quality

Desirable (but not essential)

  • Exposure to test environments through education, placements, or projects
  • Familiarity with basic electrical or mechanical test equipment
