Job Description

We are looking for a Press Shop Equipment Engineer to support, troubleshoot, optimize, and improve automotive stamping equipment.

The role will act as a key link between Maintenance and Process Engineering, focusing on equipment reliability, automation, PLC systems, HMI/SCADA, machine performance, continuous improvement, and technical problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support, troubleshoot, and optimize press shop equipment using Siemens PLC systems, including Step7 and TIA Portal.
  • Support setup of new references in production lines.
  • Work with WinCC HMI/SCADA systems for monitoring, diagnostics, and interface improvements.
  • Lead equipment improvement projects focused on cycle time reduction, reliability, productivity, and process stability.
  • Analyze machine performance and implement lean strategies to improve equipment health.
  • Collaborate with Maintenance teams to resolve complex electrical, electronic, automation, and control issues.
  • Work with Process Engineering to align equipment capability with process requirements and quality targets.
  • Troubleshoot and improve systems involving motors, VFDs, soft starters, sensors, and industrial control devices.
  • Support equipment involving hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, and automation systems.
  • Participate in upgrades, retrofits, equipment modifications, and new equipment integration.
  • Support or troubleshoot industrial robots, preferably KUKA.
  • Read and interpret electrical, mechanical, and control schematics.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce downtime and improve equipment performance.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Mechatronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in the automotive industry.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Siemens PLCs, including Step7 and TIA Portal.
  • Experience with WinCC HMI/SCADA systems.
  • Solid background in electronics, electrical systems, automation, and industrial controls.
  • Knowledge of motors, VFDs, soft starters, sensors, and related industrial components.
  • Understanding of hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems.
  • Experience with automotive stamping equipment such as presses, transfer systems, feeders, or similar equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical schematics and equipment documentation.
  • English proficiency is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with KUKA robots, including operation, programming, or troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing tools such as Kaizen, SMED, and TPM.
  • Experience leading equipment improvement, optimization, or reliability projects.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
