Job Description
About the Role
Segula Technologies is seeking an Industrial Engineer to lead a team supporting new product introductions at a major OEM manufacturing facility. This role focuses on methods development, line balancing, and continuous improvement—ensuring production lines meet performance, safety, and quality targets during launch and ramp-up phases in collaboration with Manufacturing and Engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team conducting time and motion studies, developing standardized work, and balancing operator workloads to align with takt time using predetermined time standards such as MTM, MOST, or MODAPTS.
- Train the team on the customer’s new product introduction process.
- Present station readiness plans to the steering committee and customer.
- Present line balance strategies to the core launch team, including product, engineering, and operations stakeholders.
- Lead throughput and bottleneck analyses to identify improvement opportunities and eliminate constraints.
- Provide direction to Station Design, Manufacturing Engineering, and Quality teams to implement design and process improvements.
- Ensure ergonomic evaluation data using digital tools such as Process Simulate Human or ErgoMan is provided to the responsible team.
- Validate PFMEA and process documentation for compliance and launch approval.
- Lead or participate in continuous improvement (Kaizen) workshops and lean manufacturing initiatives.
- Track and report launch metrics including cycle time adherence, first-time quality, downtime, and throughput performance.
- Support pilot builds, tool tryouts, and process validation during pre-production phases.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering (or related field), or equivalent work experience.
- 7 to 10 years of experience in an automotive manufacturing or assembly environment.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Excel for line layouts and analysis.
- Strong knowledge of lean manufacturing, line balancing, and standardized work principles.
- Solid understanding of PFMEA, lean methodologies, and ergonomic design.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Skills
- Experience supporting vehicle launches, retooling, or model change programs.
- Familiarity with Teamcenter, Tecnomatix Process Simulate, Power BI, or other digital manufacturing tools.
- Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing certification (Green Belt or higher).
- Experience with SAP, MES, or similar production tracking systems.
- Working knowledge of throughput simulation and material flow optimization.
