Job Description

  • Lead a workforce of mechanics across multiple departments 
  • Distribute work orders and coordinate work hand off between shifts
  • Understand basic job requirements for mechanical work to hold mechanics accountable for timing on job completion
  • Ensure drivers and mechanics properly document all vehicle issues and potential customer concerns
  • Review road conditions for ability to perform test and Communicating with Grounds crew on facility conditions and required maintenance (road grading, pothole filling, snow removal…)
  • Communicate with onsite engineering team regarding vehicle status and required engineering assistance.
  • Access to Corporate Systems
  • Troubleshooting basic ipad issues
  • Scheduling drivers based on vehicle priority, driver ability and driver training
  • Understand union contract
  • Discipline according to union contract
  • Complete monthly safety talk signoffs for supervised workforce and turn in on time
  • Create maintenance requests for damaged/broken equipment and facilities
  • Monitor stock of consumable stock for trailers and maintain stock required for test plan requirements
  • Maintain current safety protocols and develop improvements for supervisors, mechanics and drivers
  • Present on a rotating schedule in the Plant wide safety meeting for safety improvements
  • Ensure test vehicles are driven according to requested testing requirements
  • Ensure mechanics properly document all vehicle issues and potential customer concerns.
  • Ensure test vehicles are properly maintained and work orders are completed on time to meet milestone requirements in each area (Dynamics, Brakes Certification, Performance/Fuel Economy)
  • Lead on-going process improvements and best practices within the three departments in order to drive improved performance regarding safety, quality, cost, and Morale
  • Ensure proper Mechanic training is completed to perform all required mechanical work
  • Review departmental OT requests and determine OT requirements to meet test completion and certification targets.

  • Able to work additional hours as required, including weekends and Holidays when needed

  • Manage daily driver needs based on vehicles available to drive.

  • Review drive time and issue discipline when drivers have not met minimum requirements

  • Plan mechanic support for trips in development needs as requested by engineering.

  • Order all parts required for mechanics and drivers to complete their mission

  • Must be Incident Commander trained, and lead Emergency Response Team efforts on all shifts

Qualifications

  • ​​​​​​Previous Supervisor experience 
  • No degree required. 
  • Must have great communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • Must have mid-level computer skills. 
  • Must have demonstratable leadership skills. 
    • Able to make changes.
    • Able to enforce work guidelines.
    • Able to coach employees.
    • Able to hold others accountable. 
  • Automotive experience- preferred
  • Worked with Union - preferred.
