Job Description

We are looking for a few new colleagues to join our team in a new interesting position -Project Cost- and Value Chain Engineer.

This position requires traveling - 50% in Slovakia / 50% in European plants (Germany/France/Italia)

Description:
Project Cost- and Value Chain Engineers are Cost engineering and Value chain experts that are tasked to identify and understand the cost structure for purchased automotive components.
This includes manufacturing expertise within the most important manufacturing processes (e.g., injection molding, die casting, stamping, welding …) and deep commodity-specific cost knowledge.
Project Cost- and Value Chain Engineers create Should Cost Calculations and conduct Cost Analysis after SOP. They spend significant time in supplier workshops and plant visits and determine all manufacturing processes and technical information required to conduct cost evaluations.

Their main job activities/ functions are:
Develop observed Should Cost Calculations after SOP and identify potentials supporting TPC reduction
Support purchasing in fact-based negotiations and participate in TPC improvement workshops to realize the identified potential



2. ACTIVITY DESCRIPTION

Perform Should Cost Calculations and Cost Analysis to identify potentials for TPC reduction
Independent planning, preparation, and execution of supplier plant audits and workshops focusing on TPC reduction
Ensure that the supplier understands the assessment/workshop process and the preparation required through briefings and communications prior to the on-site activities.
Ensure that the supplier provides all requested data within the right quality and in time before the on-site activities (e.g., plant data collection workbook, BOM, PBD, machine rate details…)
Conduct supplier audits to confirm supplier compliance with all cost-related aspects of a quote and/or business award
Complete Should Cost calculations (SCCs) and supplier price breakdown (PBD) analysis during/after the plant visit to identify cost drivers and cost potentials within the supplier´s component and plant cost structure
Identify efficiency improvement opportunities during the manufacturing visit in the supplier´s facilities to optimize the supplier´s cost structure
Elaborate cost potentials for TPC optimization based on the audit findings, a gap analysis between SCC and supplier PBD, and benchmarking
Presentation of results in front of management

Support purchasing in fact-based negotiations and participate in TPC improvement workshops to realize the identified potential
Preparation of and active support of purchasing in fact-based negotiations that focus on the realization of cost potentials that can be implemented based on actual contracts
Preparation and active purchasing support in fact-based negotiations focusing on cost potentials that can be implemented in current and future sourcing or utilized to perform threat mitigation
Support buyers in the development of sourcing strategies through the development of cost models
Conduct cost benchmarking activities across suppliers/programs to identify gaps and cost savings opportunities
Monitor/accelerate supplier implementation of improvement plans resulting from the assessments/workshops through follow-up measures to generate savings.
Train and coach suppliers to improve aspects of their business performance.
Presentation of results in front of management

Qualifications

Candidates with education suit the position

University education (Bachelor's degree) or University education (Master's degree) or Postgraduate (Doctorate)

Educational Specialization

engineering, manufacturing, or logistics

Language skills

English - Upper intermediate (B2) AND Slovak -Intermediate (B1)

Experience in the position/sector

cost engineering/purchasing/procurement/lean manufacturing/ lean engineering/ logistics

Personality Requirements and Skills

Knowledge:
Manufacturing process knowledge (cycle times, machinery, equipment, no of operators …)
Experience in the field of Cost Engineering, Value Analysis, Value Engineering, Lean Management
Experience in the field of supplier audits and conducting supplier workshops
Experience utilizing ABC (Activity Based Costing) principles.
Experience conducting forensic tear-downs / reverse engineering.


Skills:
High level of analytical ability to assess and identify appropriate alternative courses of action for definition and resolution where problems are complex.
Industrial / Manufacturing Engineering Experience
Proficient in supplier quality standards, manufacturing processes, policies, procedures, and continuous improvements.
Flexibility and willingness to travel (domestic and international)
Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills
Ability to deal with ambiguities
Strong personality with adequate communication and diplomacy skills as he or she is representing Stellantis and must conduct plant audits that guard Stellantis interests in a diplomatic way
Proficient oral and written communication skills (fluent in business English)
Demonstrated interpersonal skills to effectively lead, motivate, and facilitate others in group situations
Ability to instruct others in new techniques.
Proven track record of Lean improvement processes and tools.
Ability to prioritize work with direction from supervisor/manager.
Ability to understand and follow standardized work
Ability to work as a team player

Minimum of 3 years of experience in manufacturing, quality, and cost engineering
Manufacturing expertise within specific production methods (molding, stamping, wiring, etc.) per commodity characteristics.
